Road Trip
Sup guys. I get to go on a road trip tomorrow. From Sierra Vista AZ to Colorado Springs Co. I love driving my IS300 and road trips provide me with the opportunity to enjoy my wonderful car. I've done all my checks on my car and I'm ready to go. Ill be sure to take pictures.

If you're going to Colorado Springs, you'll be close to the famous Pikes' Peak Road...though I hesitate to recommend it for some people. Still, it may be worth taking if it is not closed from snow, and if your body can take the thin air at 14,000 ft without breathing problems. Your normally-aspirated IS will lose a lot of its sea-level power on the way up (that's one reason why turbo cars and airplanes are popular out West), but some of the views are certainly worth taking the camera along.
You could also consider going just part-way up if you think you'll have problems at the top.

Colorado is good about closing snow-packed roads until they can be plowed, but not so good at warning people the road is closed ahead. I once drove out of Aspen towards Independence Pass on 82, hoping to pick up US 24 at Twin Lakes, but discovered the pass was closed when I got to it. I found the sign back in Aspen that warned the pass was closed. It was on the sidewalk, measuring about 6" X 10".
I had a nice mountain drive 18 miles up to the pass and back, por nada. Retraced my steps back 40 miles to Glenwood Springs and I-70 thru the Eisenhower Tunnel at Dillon, then into Denver. A beautiful morning drive from Glenwood Springs down to Independence Pass, but even with the half-day's delay, it was worth it. Thank God for a full suite of route planning software on my GPS-enabled laptop. I'd never have found my way without it.

Ive been living in Colorado since 2010 and I have done pikes peak. Unfortunately it was in my expedition. I leave there this May. I will be taking my Lexus up there before I go. You're right, the scenery is beautiful. Driving the IS300 on long trips is so much fun. The 2JZ is a great engine even the NA version.
