This is very true. That said do they also supply the gear shift ****? I would think that is a different supplier.
The A8 and Chrysler pic really kind of stunned me.
The Chrysler 300C, 300S V8, and 300 SRT-8, all of which use an older five-speed transmission, come with a totally different gear selector.
That's one of the things about Chrysler products (even the latest ones) that still irk me. They still insist on using those (IMO) annoying zig-zag shifters where Ford, GM, and a number of other manufactuerers have either dumped them for straight fore/aft shifters or are in the process of doing so.

My 2013 GS 350 uses a similar design but it's covered with a boot. The advantage of such a design is that it eliminates the need for a button on the shift ****.

I've had zig zag shifters from several different manufacturers and have found that after a very short time using them, they are intuitive and easy to use.
