lol... from the article:

According to data from Experian, a large chunk of car buyers can still be described as brand loyal: In the second quarter of 2012, 47.3% of new Toyota purchases were made by consumers who previously owned another Toyota vehicle (Scion, Lexus, or the flagship brand). That percentage leads all automakers. But neither Toyota nor any other car manufacturer should expect customers to cling to any specific auto brand, and here’s why:
makes complete article seem silly... talk about headling and actual text, article inside talks more about people sticking to their vehicles and not about brand loyalty slipping.

The crux of the article is that the average new vehicle replacement cycle has climbed from 8.4 to >11 years and that this change is permanent. I think that is doubtful given advertising and improved cars.

The economy also plays a role. If people don't heve money to spend, they often keep old cars longer.

We keep our cars for about 9 years, but we almost always buy them brand new. Since we keep them for so long, Lexus just makes the most sense for us. We used to have all the german brans Mercedes, BMW, Audi, but ones the 90's hit, either the companies or our luck with the germans went to hell.
