Acura NSX News

The car at the Chicago Auto Show was just the mock up and appears to have some out of date details.
The helpful person with an English accent at the Acura booth knew nothing about an open top version, ordering process or options.

Yeah, people manning the displays and booths at the car show are not who I look to for much information. They're always cordial and can/will answer basic questions but that's about it. And I can see why, it's not the setting for detailed discussion and questions.
Now and then you'll run into a sales rep from one of the local dealerships who's assigned to the show for the day who will discuss some things.

Bob hit it dead on, the person was very polite and willing to provide info.
She just didn't have any real info, offered to have any available info sent to me and then moved onto the next person at the display (totally appropriate).

That's because, in some instances, they simply don't know the answers to a some of the REAL questions. As you note, they usually are polite, and are hired to basically staff the displays and look spiffy in their nice custom-tailored suits and gold or silver Product Specialist badges. But they just take down suggestions in their show-reports and (supposedly) pass them back up the ladder to their bosses. The people that actually make the marketing decisions are, unfortunately, usually not there at the shows interacting with the public.
I still fondly remember one very nice and attractive female Product Specialist at the (D.C. show) Cadillac display, several years ago. She had first worked for Isuzu, then Saab, then Cadillac after those companies folded. After a couple of shows there, she more or less befriended me (though not in a true relationship, as she later got married), and, privately, out of earshot, asked ME for new car-buying advice (she was driving an old worn-out Chevy Trail Blazer) and if I would go shopping with HER and her boyfriend, as she felt she didn't know as much about the vehicles there as I did. Though not personally interested in her, I was more than glad to help her out...and she got something she was quite satisfied with.

Here's How Jon Sibal Imagines Tuning the New Acura NSX
Jon Sibal isn’t your typical automotive illustrator, as many of his designs have crossed from the virtual realm of the internet into the real world, so when he presents a digital take, we take notice.
In this instance, he gave the newly introduced 2016 Acura (or Honda overseas) NSX a light tuning makeover with a lowered body, black out trims and alloy wheels, an extended front spoiler and cannards, and a rear wing. Subtle tweaks, but they seem to be on the right track.
It's far too early to know what Acura has planned, but we have a hunch that the tuning scene will display its proposals for the new NSX at the 2015 SEMA aftermarket show this fall, and who knows, maybe Sibal will have something in store for us.

2016 Acura NSX Will Be the Brand's Most Customizable Model Ever
When the all-new 2016 Acura NSX arrives in US showrooms later this year, it will offer a wide scope of individual options and equipment packages. More specifically, Acura says the NSX will be the most customizable model it has ever made.
“The car will offer more factory-installed options than any other vehicle that we have ever had. Today the supercar customer wants to personalize it, wants to make it ‘mine,’” Mike Accavitti, senior vice president and general manager of Acura, told Edmunds.
While the executive did not elaborate on the options that will be available, he said some customers might go for carbon fiber materials versus aluminum, while others may choose features designed specifically for the track.
Buyers will get a clear idea of the ways to customize the NSX when Acura launches the online configurator for the car this summer. The website will also allow customers that have configured an NSX to place an order at a dealership.
Acura also announced it will train dealer sales personnel specifically for the NSX, because of the high-tech nature of the car and its long list of options. “We will have sales-training classes, expose them to the car, talk to them about the competition, talk to them about options so that they can engage with the customer and have a good conversation,” Accavitti said.
As for how many of Acura’s 273 dealers will get the NSX, the executive said it’s too early to say, as not all requirements have been determined. However, dealers will need to spend some money to qualify for the NSX, as there will be special tools and possibly a special hoist to lift the car.

All-New Acura NSX Arrives in Geneva Dressed as a Honda
Following its world debut at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, the all-new Acura NSX has its European debut in Geneva with Honda badges.
When the Honda NSX hybrid supercar will arrive in European dealerships in early 2016 it will be identical with the Acura variant, meaning it will use the same hybrid powertrain consisting of a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine mated to a 9-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) and three electric motors.
The rear direct drive electric motor supports acceleration, braking and transmission shifting performance, while the NSX’s front wheels are driven by twin independent high-output electric motors which deliver instantaneous torque response and dynamic left-to-right distribution. The hybrid system sends power to all four-wheels via Honda’s Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All Wheel Drive (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD).
The Honda NSX has a space frame design combining aluminum, ultra-high strength steel and other advanced materials, anchored by a carbon fiber floor. The hybrid supercar also utilizes a fully independent, all-aluminum front and rear suspension.
Unfortunately, we still don’t have output or performance numbers, but hopefully Honda will release them as the car gets officially unveiled later today.
