I think it was just $60K+ when it first came out, sold quite well the first 2 years, but quickly plummeted when the price kept rising and rising without that much upgrades ....

i think it was closer to 70k when it started. well by comparison in 02-05, the car at 85-88k was more of a bargain. but yes, sales tapered off big time after first 2-3 years. that's why only less than 9000 nsx ever made it to the US

but that's always how it is. i mean, a car with a honda badge that trumped over the 348 and 355. from that perspective 70k was a huge bargain. but from a honda car point of view? super expensive.

i don't expect much less on the new nsx. its performance maybe there and wins / matches that of modern ferrari, but plenty of people would say it's just a honda and too much money.

there was the same story on lfa too right?

to increase a third in 13 years isn't bad at all, especially since no doubt the equipment level increased also.

Just like the Nissan GTR, $69k in 2009, now is $101k.

Not much increased in equipment level, the only thing that added cost is the targa top and one extra gear, wheels got one inch bigger and a hair wider. The 0.2L increased in displacement doesn't really cost any more for Honda.

GTR is 45% increase in 5 years.

NSX is 30% increase in 5 years.

My point was both of their price increase dramatically over their life span, not to mention without much equipment level increased.

not a big deal, but the nsx increased 30% in 13 years, which is why i see it as more of a bargain even at the end compared to GTR's big leaps.

No matter what the original MSRP was for the NSX at the time, the real bargain is seen today by the fact that is still holds about 50% or more market value of its original MSRP even for the 20+ year old NSX's. Not too mention book values are actually rising every year, so value is getting even better.
