Today while driving on Route 1 near Monterey California, I got to see a HONDA NSX being filmed for something. It was being followed by a Porsche Cayenne with a huge camera boom on it. I say HONDA NSX because it was in fact a right hand drive Honda. Here are some pics.

Sexy looking car in red, really shows off the lines. Although I think I'd rather get pulled over and pay a $500 fine than to mount a front plate on that car.

Default Acura Shows Off New NSX GT3 Racecar On A Track

Acura has released the first official images of the NSX GT3 racecar being driven on track.

Unlike the production car’s complex hybrid AWD powertrain, the GT3 version of the NSX will use the twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine alone, sending its power to the rear axle via a six-speed sequential racing gearbox.

The V6 engine itself though features pretty much the same design specs with the one in the road car, including the block, heads, valvetrain, crankshaft, pistons and dry sump lubrication system.

As you would expect from a GT3 racecar, there is now a custom bodywork with an aggressive aero agenda including a huge rear wing, an underbody diffuser and enlarged hood vents. The naked carbon of the specific example just makes it even cooler to these eyes, but then every racecar falls into sub-zero levels of coolness.

Acura says that the NSX GT3 is slated for homologation this fall, with the car’s initial development taking place in Japan before further testing and final preparations being undertaken by the company’s North American Honda Performance Development.

The new Acura NSX GT3 will campaign in North America from 2017.

Default Honda NSX To Spawn More Models, Including Type-R And Pure EV

Honda plans no less than five different versions of the hybrid NSX according to the model’s project boss.

Speaking to Autocar, Ted Klaus said that Honda is considering various derivatives, including a convertible, a lightweight non-hybrid and an all-electric NSX, one of which will bear the Type R nameplate.

The regular Honda/Acura NSX is powered by a combination of a twin-turbo V6 engine and three electric motors for a total of 573hp. Klaus said that the NSX is an opportunity for Honda to experiment with new technology. “It’s a special car, with new technology, developing technology, that we can be leaders in and help us understand where the brand is going,” he said.

The company sees the NSX as a platform where they can test new technologies. Honda entered a lightweight, slightly tweaked version of the NSX in the Pikes Peak with Klaus saying that this is where the company wishes to go with the NSX but confirmed that there is also an appetite for a “more pure, simplified version”.

A purely electric version also competed in Pikes Peak, with four individually controlled electric motors as Honda wants to further develop its real torque vectoring system while testing the durability of the battery pack and other electrical systems. “There are other technical issues to solve, but that’s why we had one there,” he said.

Klaus also said that any Honda Type R model needs to be the most focused version of their platform and that the regular NSX is already over-engineered in order to offer faster and purer versions with different powertrains.

Acura has already revealed the racing GT3 version of the NSX which just uses the petrol V6 engine driving the rear wheels which could help the company into developing the hardcore NSX fans are asking for.

Our local dealer had a very special party with food/drinks for all the Norcal NSX owners. It was extremely nice of them to throw this special party for us and we all got a chance to see the car up close and personal. Some of us at NSXPO 2015 already got to see the car on the racetrack but that was a prototype non-production car.

Here's a few photos from the local NSX dealer event. Nice car for sure but until Acura decides to put a manual tranny in the car, this is a no go option for me personally.

My car was completed last week and delivery is targeted for the first week in October.

I doubt Turd Klaus will be on the project to see the full lifecycle.

This guy said stuff like he wanted to do the car with a transverse motor when everyone else in the segment was going longitudinal.

He stuck us with the Continental tires we don't want and took way too long to get the development done.

I think Ted Klaus wanted a long layout and a DOHC engine but the Honda CEO wanted it trans. layout and a engine more or less based on a J series. The reason it took longer then originally planned is they had to go back to scratch with the new DOHC engine and long layout.

Congrats in the NSX, it is beautiful and sexy.

All the cars in its segment are expensive, actually more expensive and the NSX is more advanced then all of them. If you want to see expensive, see what you pay for a Ferrari 458 or 488.

Compare this to its natural rivals: Porsche 918 and Ferrari La Ferrari, suddenly this is pocket change!

This is not a Ferrari by any means - I rather spend $100k more and get a 488GTB or Huracan.
For about $150-200k, you can get Audi R8, McLaren 570s, MB GT R or 911 Turbo S all of which are more appealing to me.

I wish they cut out all the Hybrid crap and sell a base model at $85-90k just with the turbo and manual trans.
