Post Subaru

Subaru of America, Inc. today reported sales of 28,293 vehicles for the month of August. The company also reported year-to-date sales of 217,780, which represents an impressive 24.7 percent increase over prior year.

Sales for newly-refreshed Outback and Legacy models have increased 49 percent and 18 percent for the month respectively. Sales for the all-new Impreza -- America's most fuel efficient all-wheel drive vehicle -- have increased 150 percent year-to-date.

"Subaru is giving consumers exactly what they want – no-compromises, safe, and fun to drive vehicles," said Thomas J. Doll, executive vice president and COO, Subaru of America, Inc. "Our all-wheel drive SUVs and sedans are hitting the sweet spot for buyers. We are also seeing an overwhelmingly positive reception for the newly-introduced BRZ sports car and expect similar sentiment when XV Crosstrek hits the showrooms this month."

"Our strong sales are a result of Subaru owner loyalty and buyers coming to the brand for the f1st time," said Bill Cyphers, senior vice president of sales, Subaru of America, Inc. "The mix of brand loyalty and new Subaru buyers represent a healthy foundation for aggressive sales growth we expect to achieve this year."

Audi today reported record-setting August sales of 11,527 new vehicles representing a 13% increase above the previous record set in August of last year. August also stands as the 20th consecutive month of record U.S. performance by the brand with the four rings.

Sales of Audi premium category vehicles (the Audi A8, Audi A7, Audi A6, and Audi Q7) equal 32% of total August sales further demonstrating the brand’s upward mobility in the luxury sector. This was a 61% increase of premium vehicles sold. August sales momentum benefitted strongly from robust demand for the technologically advanced Audi A6 generating a 58.6% sales increase for the month and a 112.3% increase year to date.

Premium consumer interest in the newly designed Audi A4 contributed to a 21.5% increase in sales, while the newly-designed Audi A5 also increased 26.9% for the month and 9.1% year-to-date. The Audi Q7 also performed favorably with an increase of 32.1% for the month of August.

“Audi momentum in the U.S. continues unabated. Twenty consecutive months of record sales proves that the brand is on track to deliver another chart topping year,” said Mark Del Rosso, Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America. “Looking ahead, the Audi story will only improve with the introduction of the S6, S7 and S8 premium performance models.”

Highlights:
• August 2012 ranks as the best August in Audi of America history
• Audi A4 sales up 21.5% compared to August 2011; YTD sales grew 6.3% compared to previous period.
• Audi A5 sales up 26.9% compared to August 2011; YTD sales grew 9.1% compared to previous period.
• Sales of Audi A6 increased 58.6% compared to August 2011; YTD sales up 112.3% compared to previous period.
• Sales mix for Audi TDI clean diesel models finish the month at 56.2% for the A3 TDI and 19.2% for Q7 TDI
• For the record-setting month of August 2012, four Audi models recorded year-over-year sales increases of 20% or more, including the Audi A4, the Audi A5, the Audi A6 and the Q7 models.
• Audi Certified pre-owned sales set an all-time record of 3,366 vehicles sold, amounting to the best August in Audi history, despite the reduced inventory of available models for the program.

Arrow Mazda

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported August U.S. sales of 22,234 vehicles, representing a decrease of 1.8 percent (5.4 percent DSR) versus last year. Year-to-date sales through August are up 11.8 percent (11.3 percent DSR) versus last year, with 185,349 vehicles sold.

Key August sales notes:

Mazda CX-5 continues to exceed expectations, posting a best ever sales number of 4,665 units in the month of August. Because of high customer interest in CX-5, the vehicle has been hampered by a lack of availability nationwide since its launch. Increased production volumes are now starting to match supply with demand.

Mazda3 saw its best August sales result since 2009, with 11,120 sales.

Excluding the CARS ("Cash for Clunkers") program, August of 2012 was the best-ever August for Mazda3.

Vehicles equipped with Mazda's revolutionary SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY accounted for 63.0 percent of the company's total sales during the month of August.

Mazda3, with SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY, accounted for 85.0 percent of all Mazda3 sales in August.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported August sales of 1,994 vehicles, down 30.0 percent versus August of last year.

Mazda North American Operations is headquartered in Irvine, Calif., and oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States and Mexico through more than 700 dealers. Operations in Mexico are managed by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.

Hopefully, the GS can hang on at ~1,800 sales with the new ES being around. Great numbers...ES may very well be the best selling sedan in the entry lux class.

to quote what i said few month back.
the ES will cannibalize GS. it is just a much better looking car and at a lower price. again, GS has better driving dynamic, but i fear not that many Lexus customer (or customer as a general), value much on driving dynamic.
ILX is quickly approaching TSX level ( i do think ILX is right direction for Acura). RDX still making very good progress and i expect it to trump MDX at some point.

no idea TL sold that many... it is a solid vehicle that styled wrong, i guess their safety rating helped?

saw the new ES, looks nice.
the re styled RX also look a lot sharper and the sale figure shows.

the JX is simply amazing. it is a solid contender for its price.

all those amazing vehicle just makes my year end SUV purchase that much more exciting.

^^^ utterly wrong again sorry. even your ILX comment is way off base they want to sell 3,600 a month and they are not close to it. Tl sales goal was 70k and they are not close to it.

Wowzers!

Look at those Toyota sales and Ford Escape sales. Escape at 28K! That is just great for Ford, they've got IMHO the best-looking compact crossover in the class. F-Series a monster as always for Ford.

Also on the GM side, looks like the Malibu is struggling. Strong month overall for GM, but both retail and fleet sales were up for them.

Camry sales at almost 37K, Corolla at over 24K *AND* Prius sales at over 21K? Absolutely unreal! Those are simply competition-crushing numbers. Only Accord came close this month to the Camry, everything else was crushed sales-wise by the Camry in the class. Altima nowhere close to Camry sales, and Camry sales were almost double Sonata sales.

Those Lexus numbers are amazing as well, over 7500 ES sales, unreal! The best part, GS sales holding strong at almost 2000, CT still doing well, and IS still holding steady at over 2000. I thought the haters said the ES would kill GS sales? Where are all the trolls and haters now who said that? RX continues to be a monster at well over 8,000 sales. ES sales alone roughly matched the sales of Acura's entire car lineup!

Another month, and Hyundai continues to lose market share. Also a big drop for Genesis sales there.

the majority of es sales were likely the close-out of the last gen. i'd say probably next month (not this month, september) will tell a better story when old es will have been gone for a bit.
