That’s the thing, prior to the new regs you could have a diesel truck that got low to mid 20’s like my father in laws 2004 diesel GMC.
With the new regs it has killed the great mileage.
The “want it all now” mentality has to stop.
You are not going to get 25-30mpg trucks that blow out no emissions, that can sustain any amount of power for any reasonable distance in the next few years, technology and R&D takes time.
To me the hybrid in the full size truck was silly when we could have had a smaller diesel engine (pre-reg anyways) that gave us the high MPG, the torque to still haul and a driving range that would make most people who tow on long trips happy.
