Toyota announces new four-cylinder Camry SE Sport

There are plenty of great reasons to look forward to the upcoming three-day Labor Day weekend, but is a Toyota Camry one of them? While a special-edition Camry might not sound as exciting as the numerous parties or cookouts taking place this weekend, Toyota is giving its dealers a special way to celebrate with the new SE Sport Limited Edition added to the 2012 Camry line equipped with the four-cylinder engine.

Essentially, this car is a more attractive value package that combines a few popular options bundled together for a low(er) price. The 2012 Camry SE Sport Limited Edition will have a starting price of $25,995 (*not including delivery charges) which is about a $2,700 premium compared to the 2012 Camry SE. The package will include added equipment such as navigation, Toyota's Entune infotainment (a $2,405 option on its own), power sunroof and power driver's seat.

Toyota livened this package up a little more with exclusive features like the 18-inch, smoked-finish wheels and a Blizzard Pearl paint that will only be produced between September 12 through November 12. The Camry SE Sport that shoppers can find in dealers this weekend will come in Barcelona Red and Attitude Black.

I think it's a good addition. Those that want a little sport/appearance with their fuel sipping 4 banger

I wouldn't call it a boring car. But I always though the SE was the sport version, now it is SE Sport. Wierd.

Sport of the Sport.

But the packaged options sound pretty good to me! Too bad, for a Camry lover over 15 years, I don't like this generation at all.

sign of the times when a sedan has a 4 cylinder in it and is called "sport". I think its cool to be able to added cosmetic touches and still be able to rock some serious mpg

It's a 4 cylinder SE with the V6 wheels, nav/Entune, and Blizzard Pearl paint job.

So basically a V6 model with everything but the V6 engine. It is similar to where the last generation Camry SE 4 cylinder and SE V6 shared the same wheels and dual exhaust. You had to look under the hood to differentiate them.

For a second there, I thought there was a new enhanced 4 cylinder that was being announced a la the Accord EX before....disappointing in that this is just a package varatian.

I like the look, but how does a moonroof, power seat, display audio, and smoked rims make it a sport?

TRD springs and wheels would be SPORT IMO. I guess it's just a name to differentiate the SE from the regular models.

Neither do I. How does a moonroof, power seat, a display and smoke on the rims make it a sport? I do like the camry a lot.

I think it's great. The more options, the better. If i were in the market for a Camry, it would be either the 4 cylinder sport or a hybrid. I would not personally opt for the 6 cyl.
