Isn't that considered a crossover or hatchback?^
And is it competing against the Ferrari FF?

Default Bugatti favoring Veyron replacement over Galibier sedan

Bugatti favoring Veyron replacement over Galibier sedan

Following up on the Bugatti Veyron must be no easy feat. After all, how is anything supposed to go on stage after a groundbreaking supercar with sixteen cylinders, four turbochargers and as much as 1,200 horsepower?

Evidently, settling on a successor to the Veyron has been a daunting endeavor even for Bugatti, which has, over the past few years, been reported to be considering either a new hypercar to fill the Veyron's shoes, a super-sedan to chart a different course, or possibly both. But now the storied Alsatian marque is said to have finally taken the Galibier off the table.

This according to our old friend Jonny Lieberman over at Motor Trend, who spoke with Wolfgang Schreiber – the engineer behind the Veyron and Bugatti's current chief executive. Apparently, MT reports, there just isn't a market for a super-luxe performance sedan above the Rolls-Royce Phantom or the Mulsanne offered by Bugatti's sister brand Bentley. Which is a bit of a shame, but where does that leave Bugatti as production winds down on the Veyron in all its many iterations?

Apparently steering toward a new exotic supercar. Just what form it takes, how much power it packs and how fast it will be able to go are all big question marks at this point, but we're looking forward to discovering the answers.

I think the sedan may happen if they go that direction. Cant see a $1,000,000 SUV. Lets wait and see what Bentley and Lamborghini bring in the 200-300k range.

I think Bugatti's customers will want another super car. A sedan is boring and I don't see many billionaires dropping the money on a sedan. Only time will tell. If they can make something so special, so powerful, and so desirable they might be able to get the Gallibier off the ground

I'm a bit disappointed. I wanted something outlandishly large like a RR Phantom on steroids. Billionaires would buy that

That is disappointing if true about the sedan, good news about the Veyron replacement though. I was looking forward to seeing what they would do with a 16 cylinder sedan and how beautiful and exclusive they would make the interior. I think they really should build both, use the momentum from the previous Veyron, newer Veyron, and a sedan similar to a Veyron.

Default Bugatti Galibier ‘On Ice,’ Could Still be Built

The Bugatti Galibier isn’t entirely dead.

With Wolfgang Dürheimer now at the helm of Bugatti, the CEO admits that though the Bugatti Galibier project is “on ice,” but periodically revisits the ultra-luxury sedan which originally debuted in concept form at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Earlier this year, former Bugatti boss Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber confirmed that the Galibier was officially off the table and would not be the vehicle to follow up on the company’s Veyron.

Next year, the French automaker is expected to unveil a replacement for its Veyron 16.4 supercar as it ends its limited production run. If the Galibier was to become a reality, it was believed to be powered by a W16 engine with 1,340 hp and a top speed of 235 mph.

So then, what's next? .............................

Sooner or later, IMO, some sanity has to be brought to the horsepower-race.

Why whats wrong with it? GIve it 2000hp. Its an exercise in engineering. Luxury items don't make sense, excess is the name of the game...
