What manufactures should do is pass a law like the factory is a US embassy, so the factory is in Mexico, but soon as you set foot on the property its, Germany or Japan

Not the same thing. Quality and reliability are at the core of the Lexus brand image. They built their rep on it. Not so for the Germans. The Germans (like Audi) can sell turds with abysmal quality control and cheap interiors and get away from it, because their customers tolerate it as part of the "GErman ownership experience". That's how strong the BMW nameplate is.
