Keep in mind it's a 1992, not a 2012.
Lexus will still strand people you know....

2001-2005 IS300 are the most reliable Lexus...hand down. Only one campaign back in 2001 for the O2 sensor wire plastic cover under the car. The rest of the car is rock solid, not many major issue at all,but some CEL light for bank 2 sensor 2 O2 sensor or some catalyst convertor below threshold.
The LS430 2001-2006 come in second with only a few minor issues, probably the best LS of all.
All of the ES are good with common issue like oil leaks from valve cover gaskets at high miles and rear main seal leaks oil.

Result's as of now:

#1 Early LS'
#2 all other LS'
#3 Early SC400's (but electronics are weak)
#4 Early RX's
#5 LX470's

Correct if I'm wrong.

The CT's are supposed to become one of the top Lexus' ever made. (Quote)

Funny, no one mentioned the new SC's or the hybrids being good...!

The first gen LS is not reliable as people make it out to be, I had one, and it gave me constant issues, and had a ton of little issues. Ditto for a first gen GS that I also once owned.

I'd say that LS430 and 2GS430 are the most reliable Lexus sedans. They are basically improved versions of their earlier siblings, with all the improvements and all the issues worked out, but not radically redesigned where they get new issues. Keep them properly maintained, don't molest them, and they will last forever. I have a 2gs430 with 150k on the clock, and EVERYTHING works, and the car runs and drives like new.

With the Lexus SUVs, while I don't personally have much experience with any of them, if I had to take a guess, I'd say LX450, but its also a far stretch to even call it a Lexus, its basically a Landcruiser with not many, if any, improvements. I think GX470 is the most appropriate choice - it is built on the undestructible Hilux/4Runner chassis, but it has enough improvements and toys to be a true Lexus, without all the trickery of LX470 that can cause potential issues.

I would put the LX450 on the list because I have not heard a convincing reason why it can't be the most reliable.

All Lexus are reliable, but the build quality and level of construction goes up with the level and price tag of the car, so the highest end model is king. Also the older ones are best due to less features and electronics to go bad.

So pretty much late model 2000 LS400, LS430, SC300/400/430, I am sure the LX trucks are just as good as the LS.

The king of it all might be the very 1st Lexus, the 1989 LS400, it is the car Lexus extremely over-engineerred to break into the luxury market and it is also very basic in features. You still see a tons of them on the road with probably 300k+ miles, running extremely quiet and smooth. I always love to see those 20+ years old LS400 running quieter and smoother then the 2 years old Mercedes next to it.

Probably because the quantity of SC430's owners are low.

I have owns a 06' SC430 for 3 years now, it is as reliable as my bullet proof 05' LS430.

But like I said, all Lexus are reliable, is just some got glitches here and there.

I see them all the time, they are not rare at all.

Certainly lots more 89' LS400 on the road then 89' of any other luxury car.

New Mexico isn't very nice to the Lexus', I don't blame people for not bringing them into this "pretty" sandbox

WINNER IS:

Lexus LS400/LS430.

Not 1 vote for the HS Hybrid so I guess that one is the loser.

Bottom Line: Lexus has NEVER been un-reliable. <But go with the older ones.....They are rock solid>

From a mechanical and engineering standpoint, the 96-97 LX450 is by far the most reliable Lexus ever made.

The LS while good has more thing that can go wrong compared to the mighty LX450.

Everybody has their own baised vote on which Lexus is the most reliable. What we need is somebody that owns an LX, RX, IS, SC, LS, and GS. That will put the view in perspective.
