2013 Audi RS5 officially priced from $68,900*

The highly anticipated Audi RS5 is finally on sale in the United States, and Audi has revealed that the high-performance sport coupe will be priced from $68,900, (*)not including $895 for destination.

Under the hood is Audi's tried and true, high-revving 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8, good for 444 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque here, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The RS5 also employs a sport rear differential that works with the Quattro all-wheel-drive system to better optimize the four-corner grip to offer rear-drive-like performance when needed. Audi states that the RS5 will sprint to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds.

Don't get us wrong, we adore the free-breathing 4.2-liter mill, but it strikes us as odd that Audi wouldn't employ its new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 here. Under the hood of the A8, S6 and S7, this engine makes 420 hp and 406 lb-ft, and allows those bigger vehicles to run to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Moreover, Audi offers the S8 with a boosted, 520-hp version of this engine, able to shoot the flagship to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.

Nothing like having your RS5 embarrassed by a luxury barge.

so a decently loaded one is 80k? not cheap, considering a loaded m3 coupe (not convertible) is mid 70s? but the car does look great imho

Interesting going with the 4.2L when the new 4.0T is finding its way into most S/RS models

I'm surprised they didn't put in the new 4.0 TT motor. That engine should be more powerful and much better fit for the "RS" nameplate just like the article says. Hmm...

420hp and 406lbft. Sure it's down 24hp but it's the torque that really motivates a heavy car like this

Yeah, plus it's easy to increase the boost to have more power, and torque arrive so much earlier.

unless you absolutely need AWD, otherwise, why would anyone pick this over a M3 coupe with competition package for less money to boot.

Well that's why M3 always sells better than RS5.

this car has been on my list to look at when it hits the market...

this is the best looking audi I have ever seen on the road and that alone says hell no to the m3

the awd is a nice to have as well

reality is i am not going to the track, but i want something that spikes the endorphins on the way to work and when i am walking up to it i drool

i really dont care about what the car does at the track....

also, some purists would rather have a NA v8 over a FI setup... NA v8 with high revs is just plain sexy to me

Is it just me or does Audi change their headlights or a variant of it every single year?

mmm nice pics!! I feel like the "RS5" should have more power, like somewhere near 500hp with the new corporate 4.0L Turbo V8
