You mean a redesigned G, right? Maybe 2014 model comes out in 2013? The current G already went through a refresh...

Infiniti has always had fire sale leases, it's not cause the G is old. You could lease a G37 for $319 nationally b4 the G25 came. We found out 90% of their cars in NY are leased. Hell you coul lease the last gen G35 for $199 a month. There were links to Slickdeals.net where Infinti leases were very cheap.

To me for around $350-$400 a month the G37 sedan is an incredible deal. Good news for the consumer. You are lucky to lease an IS 250 for that price.

my sister is ending her lease on a 2009 G37...Journey package with nav, etc. We negotiated the deal for about $350 and $2000 down for 39months, 15k per year and full maintenance coverage throughout the lenght of the lease.

I think we came out pretty good, the 3.7L motor was new to the line and the car had an msrp of $43k. Wasn't able to find any other offerings that came close. Infiniti definitely does have that lowball figure to draw attention...

This is indeed a great time to get an Infiniti G.

I just got my wife the G37x with navi and premium package for $289/month, only upfront cost was TTL + first month payment (totaled $1,200), for 18 months. Those interested should act quick, I think the promotion is ending soon.

People lease for different reasons, most seem to lease based on car payment vs. paycheck size, which is the worse thing to do, the last couple cars I negotiated I was able to finance for prices similar to what it would cost to lease the car, besides the lifetime oil and no maintenance a lease return comes with, some newer cars have crappy tires that can't even make it 20k before you find yourself hydroplaning off the road, always makes me laugh when people who lease are whining about having to buy tires cause they only made it 20 month in the 36 month lease

That's insane.

I think my gf and their family are most likely going to go with the Infiniti.

They sold their Chevy Tahoe to Carmax, and they're gonna use a fraction of the money for the Infiniti.

I told them if they want Japanese Luxury, they should get a Lexus, cause Infiniti interiors suck.

But Lexus' lease specials are nowhere near as aggressive as Infiniti's at the moment.

right on. if infiniti believe their car has 78% of residue value after 18 month, good for them. it doesn't make sense for me to lease (i am on the road 75% of time so i am entirely relied on AVIS), but if i do lease, i will lease infiniti.

Lol. Right "believe" is the key word. You can't beat BMW or Infiniti leases, it's how they "sell" cars.

I never look into the lease deal for Infiniti, the numbers you guys mentioned are insane! I should just get one for beater then. I always think the lease on a G is about 500-600 a month. Hell, my last lease on my Sienna LE was 389 with 3500 down, did I get rip off ?

When did you lease your Sienna?

I think you might've slightly overpaid, but then again, Toyota's lease's aren't always cheap.

They do have a Lease special on the Sienna now:

$1,999 down, $339 a month..or $0 down, $399 a month..

Hell, if you buy a car outright and keep it for 12-15 years, you don't even need to make anything back on resale to win out over leasing a comparable car every 3 years.

I mean what's more expensive, leasing a new G37 every 18 months for 9 years ( = $44,928 and obviously you don't own a thing at the end of your third lease term) or buying the same car outright ($38,695 MSRP excluding TTL, so let's call it $40,000 even), keeping it for 9 years

Say you're lucky and you can expect a 6% ROI from the stock market every year. Roughly speaking, the additional "cost" of paying $40k up front is as follows -

2000 = (($40,000 - (down payment + 12*monthly payment))*.06), 1500, 1300, 1000, 900, 800, 600, 500, 500 = $9100.

So the final cost of buying outright is ($49,100 - resale value of an infiniti g37 after 9 years).

A 9 year old G35 with 180,000 miles is going for around $9,000 right now, so let's use that figure as a conservative estimate for resale value of a G37 after 9 years (even though a G37 would probably have slightly higher value)

Final cost of buying outright = $49,100 - $9000 = $40,100
Final cost of leasing = $44,928

And that's just 9 years of ownership. The difference typically becomes more pronounced (despite resale value plummeting annually) if you keep it even longer.
For just a 5K difference - pocket change over 9 years - I'd happily take 3 to 4 new cars over one nine year old any day of the week... If those numbers even remotely hold up you've actually made a better case for leasing than against it....

Being willing to drive a used car and to hold for a long time (say nine years per your example) has little to nothing to do with being "really financially savvy". It's simply a question of priorities. Choosing to buy ANY car over and above the most simple and basic transportation you can buy speaks to your own choice to also spend more than you needed to spend. It's all relative. Both of your examples ultimately speak to "wasting money".
