The minds at Puritalia have finally gotten around to taking the wraps off of their Shelby Cobra-inspired roadster. The Puritalia 427 is intended to serve as a modern interpretation of the legendary open-top built by Carroll Shelby.
In addition to the gaggle of photos you see here, Puritalia has also served the final specs on the machine. The 427 uses an aluminum space frame chassis with chromoly steel subframes, which help maintain stiffness while keeping the roadster as lightweight as possible. As a result, the machine tips the scales at a mere 2,403 pounds with a perfect 50/50 weight balance.
The body shell is stitched from carbon fiber, and buyers may choose between one of two engines. The base, naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 puts 445 horsepower to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, aluminum driveshaft and limited slip differential, though a supercharged variant of the same engine is also available with a more heady 605 horsepower.
With its fully-independent suspension, adjustable shocks and sway bars, the 427 should also keep its feet planted on the ground. A set of six-piston Brembo calipers squeeze 15-inch discs up front, while four-piston clamps press 13.5-inch rotors out back. Sounds like fun to us.

^^^this thing is a monstrosity.
a blended version of Z Roadster, Jaguar, SC430, and Tesla Roadster. nothing original.
Just take the classic style and tweak it a little, make it wider, throw in some HID's and be done with it.

It's been more than a year since we were first introduced to the Puritalia 427, but it looks like the low-weight, high-horsepower roadster is one step closer to hitting the road. As an update about the car's progress, Puritalia has released three images of the first production 427 as it prepares for testing.
According to the car's building, the Puritalia 427 is a modern-day interpretation of the Shelby Cobra, and it's hard to argue with specs that include a 2,403-pound curb weight and engine options consisting of a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 producing 445 horsepower or a supercharged option cranking out 605 hp.
Puritalia has not revealed any information the car's testing or details as to when it will go on sale – let alone at what price – but we're still enamored by this reimagined version of the most iconic roadsters of all time.

Interesting... though for what they will likely ask, you can have a classy Factory 5 replica plus a DD, or do a v8 S2K swap with head work and a high boost SC plus a DD and oodles of cash left over...
Honestly I'd rather have the retromod Morgan.
