Just as our Quarter Pounder is a European's royale with cheese, our Camaro Coupe is their Camaro Coupé – as in, "Coo-pay." As far as we can tell, there are two Continental affectations bestowed on Chevrolet's WTCC safety car, one being a set of LED taillights; otherwise it speaks a universal pony car language. The second is that the Euro Camaro gets the 6.2-liter LS3 V8 with 432 horsepower in six-speed manual trim, a six-hp bump over our version, and the 6.2-liter L99 V8 with Active Cylinder Management is detuned to 405 hp, fitted with the six-speed automatic.

Chevrolet Camaro Coupé
An automotive icon reborn

- Segment: Sports car
- In model range since: Autumn 2011

It's strong, low-slung stance tells a story that spans four decades and remains as exciting today as it was when it was launched in the late 1960s. The all-new Chevrolet Camaro generation five arrived at European showrooms in Autumn 2011 and promises to be a hit thanks to its stunning looks, high performance and great value for money

The Camaro maintains the front-to-rear body proportions synonymous with the original concept; the design acknowledges its rich past without being trapped in a 'retro' focus. The immediately recognizable V-shaped nose that has become a Camaro trademark, together with the high-intensity discharge headlamps with glowing xenon halo rings, mimicking deep-inset eyes, give the Camaro an aggressive ready-to-pounce stance.

The sweeping long hood, with a 10-centimeter power bulge, combined with the sculpted rear shoulders and short rear deck and finished off with dual outlet stainless steel exhausts accentuate the Camaro's iconic look and feel.

Attention to detail and expressing a balance between heritage and modernity, characterize the new Camaro's interior. A pair of deeply recessed instrument binnacles, with round gauges in square housings, is a nod to classic Camaros. This feature contrasts with an ambient light package which uses advanced LED light pipe technology to give the cabin a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The detailing – such as large, chrome-trimmed controls, low-gloss surfaces, premium fabric, and acrylic trim appliqués – conveys a quality level never seen before in the Camaro. More attention to detail is evident in the center-console gauge cluster. It takes its cue from a similar option on the 1969 Camaro, but adds contemporary LED backlighting.

A superb 432 hp, 6.2L V8 engine generating 569 Nm of torque gives the new Camaro the muscle to match its looks. First seen on the 2008 Corvette, this engine features high-flow cylinder heads for impressive low-end torque and strong top-end power. When fitted with the six-speed automatic transmission, it delivers 405 hp/556 Nm and includes GM's fuel-saving Active Fuel Management system, enabling it to cruise on just four of the eight cylinders during light load conditions.

Electronic stability control (GM's StabiliTrak system) and traction control come as standard equipment. Four levels of electronic assistance are available for competitive / sport driving opitions. The six-speed manual transmission includes Launch Control for consistently quick starts.

The large, ventilated brake disks (front 355 mm / back 365 mm), clamped by four-piston aluminum Brembo calipers, ensure impressive braking performance. The braking system is designed to withstand punishing track day usage.

The front suspension uses a multi-link strut arrangement with a double ball-joint configuration. The unique, 4.5-link independent rear suspension is double-isolated from the chassis for a smoother, quieter driving experience – and improved cornering.

The Camaro offers comprehensive safety features, including dual-stage front airbags, front seat- mounted thorax side airbags and head curtain airbags for front and rear occupants.

Export versions of the Camaro also get turn signal mirrors (which is currently not available in domestic markets of USA and Canada).

Hence, why our Camaro SS for the Philippine market comes with turn signal mirrors. This is one of the best ways to indicate whether the vehicle was officially brought in by the official dealer or if it was grey-market vehicle imported from somewhere in North America.
