Consumer Reports had some good comments recently on this matter (and this is their opinion, not necessarily mine). According to CR, many of the electronics used in today's cars are not only very complex in nature and hard-to-decipher (and I certainly agree with that), but often tend to be produced, under contract, by makers of household-electronic items. Those household-electronic devices, of course, aren't continually subject to the extremes of hot and cold and the harsh operating conditions of today's cars. Transplant them into cars, and the likelihood of trouble increases....though, in general, electronics in Asian-built cars are more reliable than those from Europe.
