I remember that. I think it was C&D. If I recall correctly, the stopping distance of the Camry that was tested this way was only a few feet longer than a Taurus stopping distance tested the normal way with no throttle applied.
yep... and that was from 100mph too... for instance, if this SUA happened to you as on the video, disregarding the transmission, you would press brakes much sooner, when the car was at 15mph or so, and it would stop dead, with engine racing.
even if sua happened like this and you went into panic mode, i think i would crash a lot sooner if I was in panic mode... or i would stop the car....
Luckily, a video camera complete with timing info was all cued up and ready???
I think in the Asian countries its pretty common now days to have a dash cam or some sort of recording device rolling at all times. I run my gopro camera most of the time whether I'm driving my weekend car or my beater Camry. It's a just in case thing.
As to this accident, I personally wouldn't risk my life running into the back of another car at that speed, but you never know what some people will do. I can't really say one way or another if this is fake or not.
