4.0 V8 no surprise. The V10 while cool was unlikely :/

Default Lamborghini Urus Could Feature Turbo V8

Quote:
Lamborghini, a company known for its massive wailing naturally aspirated supercars, might launch a turbocharged V8 model.

The upcoming Lamborghini Urus SUV might be the Italian automaker’s first turbo-powered vehicle as the brand looks for the best way to meet increasing emissions requirements while appealing to a broader group of potential customers. Like many other automakers that have turn to turbochargers to increase performance while maintaining fuel economy, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann admitted that the Urus could feature “a turbo engine for the first time” for the brand.

As for which turbocharged V8 Lamborghini will use, that’s still being considered. The most logical fit would be to borrow the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the Audi RS6 and RS7, which the Italian automaker has access to from its parent company. That powerplant packs 560 hp, which would be a respectable figure for a Lamborghini SUV.

They could use the 4.0L V8 sure, but how about making it special like bore/stroke it to 4.5L or something. Make it unique

Default Lamborghini to price Urus similar to Huracán

Quote:
If and when the Urus project is finally approved for production, it will take Lamborghini into not one but several new territories. For one, it will be the company's first SUV since the demise of the LM002 in 1993. It'll also be the company's first front-engined model since the demise of the Jalpa and Espada in the late '70s, and its first model to offer hybrid and turbocharged powertrains in, well... ever. Just don't expect it to be its cheapest model.

According to Motoring.com.au, in speaking with Lamborghini sales and marketing execs, the Urus "will be priced similarly to the Huracán," which is currently the Raging Bull marque's entry-level model. That doesn't mean, necessarily, that the Urus couldn't undercut the Huracán's price slightly – especially since it will likely offer more than one engine option – but don't expect it to come cheap.

The Huracán starts in the US for $237,250. If, as reported, the Urus commands a similar price, that would make it the most expensive SUV on the market. That is, at least, before other high-end rivals from the likes of Bentley and Maserati get into the game.

Default Lamborghini Said to Agree to Produce New SUV in Italy

Quote:
Automobili Lamborghini SpA will build a new high-performance sport utility vehicle in Italy that may double the size of the supercar brand, after reaching a deal on tax breaks with Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s government, said people familiar with the matter.

Lamborghini Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann and Rupert Stadler, the CEO of its parent company Audi AG, are scheduled to attend a press conference in Rome Wednesday with Renzi to announce the agreement, said people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named before the announcement. A Lamborghini representative declined to comment.

In exchange for Lamborghini’s plan to hire as many as 500 people, Renzi’s government will grant as much as 80 million euros ($87 million) in tax breaks and other benefits to expand production in Italy, the people said.

Audi is seeking to broaden Lamborghini’s lineup beyond two-seat supercars, which have limited appeal in emerging markets such as China, where road conditions can be poor. It will be Lamborghini’s first SUV since production of the boxy LM002 -- the so-called Rambo Lambo -- ended in 1993. Known for low-slung sports cars like the $237,000 Huracan, Lamborghini unveiled a prototype of the high-riding Urus SUV in 2012.

Lamborghini met several times in the last few months with representatives of the Italian government before making a final decision on the production of the SUV, people familiar with the matter said earlier this month. To cut costs, the chassis and other key components are set to be produced at Volkswagen AG factories, such as a plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, where the frame for the Porsche Cayenne SUV is made, the people said.

VW owns Audi, which in turn is the parent company of Lamborghini.

The new model comes as the increasing wealth of the world’s rich led to record sales last year for most major luxury-car makers. For Lamborghini, deliveries rose 19 percent to an all-time high of 2,530 cars. Lamborghini has previously said there’s the potential to sell 3,000 performance crossovers a year, more than doubling the size of the brand.
