The photoshop features the design language of the Sebastian Vettel edition FX. If they do make this model I think that may be their 'performance' line. The Seb Vettel edition FX gets a good carbon fiber treatment and boost in power.

Interesting read, can't wait to see things unfold at Infiniti, but now Im kinda looking forward to the new G, sharing the same platform as the C-Class, nothing from the old G, mostly similar front end to the MB

Now that's some good ishh Mike ^^^^
I think it will most likely a more luxurious GTR with a tad nicer looking design. Didn't they have a rendering of a 4-door infiniti branded GTR not too long ago??

The current G37 is still one of the best performers in its class. Looks are subjective but it looks good - good enough to consistently be a very good seller. It is getting a little dated like the Lexus IS - looking forward to see the next generation cars of both lines.
The current benchmark is the E9X/F30 335i. The G must at least match that (I KNOW that Nissan can do it - they've got a lot of options at their disposal). If they just dropped about 500lbs and increased the displacement to the level of something like the re-sleeved VQs are doing, then they'd be competitive again.
Also I think the price point of a such a high powered G will be no where near the GTR's price point. I think the interview's pricing has more to do with Japan. An true high performance IPL G will be in line with the M3 and C AMG cars in North America.
If they're getting friendly with MB, why not make a supercharged version of the Z/G twins and put them at the $50k price point? I'll buy one!

My initial thought is "When PIGS FLY" LOL
Really, I'm a big Infiniti fan and think they're provide a good segment in the cars they produce But If they do this, it will probably result in THE END of Infiniti. Can't believe they would make decisions like this.. They already produce cars in a niche category thats not as popular now as it was in 2003. This is ridiculous, Let them do it, I'll sit out and just buy a GTR instead..

They screwed up back when they released the GTR as a Nissan and not an infiniti. Now they want to bring out an even more expensive car when their line up basically consists of one model, a bunch of confusing SUVs, and still no flagship sedan? I have no idea what they are thinking.
