Looked at the new Camry up close with a friend who interested in one-my feelings...

Matt,I had a '73 Coupe DeVille in '75 when I was in my 20's.Soft ride and real soft leather that cracked quick..
I'm getting a bit tired of the 'sportiness' of my IS350.I'm missing the ride quality of my former ES and fighting the urge to get a '12 ES even though the new one is out in Sept.Good deals and incentives on the ES out there.

i think ES300h will be a smash hit.

I think the new generation ES will have better handling and may lose a bit of the smooth ride.
I'm also lukewarm to the spindle grill.I like it on the SUVs but not on the car line....yet.
Also not a fan of the interior pics of the new ES.
The ES300 will be a winner,no doubt.Getting a deal on that model will be awhile. Also with NAV and some other options, the cost will easily be $46K.

True SP but I like the design of the present ES350.I always get killed on resale.

Since Lexus has a wide range of different vehicles, the redesigned ES most likely will ride very similar (I hope!) - probably somewhere between a Camry SE and LE. My mom's '01 LE is pretty mushy.

$35k for a Camry? That's IS territory.
After several months on the market, I haven't warmed up to the new Camry one bit. The last model was more cohesive and lithe, as the OP is claiming. IMO, those rear taillights are god awful and that alone is enough to walk away.

i am sure some comfort will be lost, but it will still be a lot more comfy than IS350... if you are so into old version, maybe i can suggest to wait until new one is almost out, and then grab one of the last ones before they all go away? That way you can check out the new one as well and get some massive discount on old one, but you probably wont feel like you might have made bad decision :-)
Nice. I remember from my childhood my dad owned a '73 Electra 225 coupe (purchased new - couldn't quite afford the Caddy) and then a '77 Sedan DeVille - followed by a 1983 Continental so I'm right there with ya.

I would think and hope the ES will maintain that cushy ride. That what makes it a very good selling Lexus.I've read it's going to be even a quieter riding car.
A $32K SE for $29K and a $32600 on a $35273 fully loaded list Camry.Although we know the sales manager at this dealer,we thought the hybrid might be be less discounted because of the rise in gas prices. There was only a handful in stock.However,24 are said to be coming in first week of April.
Yes,the taillights are bad to me along with the gaudy chrome fog light trim but the SE still looks very nice. The other models not so much. The SE back bumper cover and dual exhaust along with the black out fog light trim and the wheels make it nice to me but the ride is loud and pretty rough.Still a nice looking Camry which surprised me.

Will do if I can go with him but I'm sure he'll tell me about the car if I don't.
You're right,I'm probably not going to do anything but unless I can find a fairly local startfire pearl/tungsten pearl w/black interior with UL pkg and then I may bite.Didn't see any on cars.com or autotrader.com within a couple of hundred miles.

Found a tungsten/black at McGrath Lexus of Westmont in the Chicago suburbs.A 700+ mile trip but the numbers work well.May bite.

I told you and told you and told you over and over that the new Camry looks plain nicer. The previous model Camry looks like hot dog... ugly as ****.
What happened there??? Didn't you have '10 Lexus IS350 w/ Lux pkg? in white? Did you get rid of it???????
Oh don't tell me you got full of rock chips on the front that you had to get rid of it and get a new ES350.

If not, when you post something here,be prepared for the pat on the back or criticism.
How are the many seams working out on that clear bra install you did?
BTW,it was a tungsten ES350 no UL pkg.
No rock chips.Just wanted to try something different and I did.A IS350 but I missed a smooth and quiet ride of the ES.

Didnt have enough time to read through all the responses but to chime in, the salesman and whoever says the SE doesn't come with FULL leather seats is......... WRONG.
I work for Toyota and Lexus, I sell cars, I've sold about 4 SE's with FULL leather seats, not the ultrasuede or the oldschool design inserts...
