I like it for the most part, but a few things not a fan of. I hate how the head and taillights are so stretched at the side of the car. The interior while it looks good, also has a plain color scheme. Not a fan of that beige/brown they are using.
Fuel economy for the 4 cylinder is awesome! Way to go Nissan. Toyota needs to step up now, and they will with new powertrains coming soon. Makes you wonder what fuel economy the new Accord will get.
On a side note, the Sonata has now been easily overshadowed, and very fast too by the new Camry, new Fusion, and now this new Altima. They ALL get better fuel economy than the Sonata, and I think the new Accord will as well. The Sonata is going to end up having among the worst fuel economy in the midsize segment. Not that this is a surprise, anyone who follows long-term industry trends knew this would happen and that the Hyundai hype would be deflated very quickly.
The Altima, like the Fusion and Camry, has its own strengths and weaknesses. Each of them does something well, and the Camry and Altima in particular have unique features and options to make them stand out.
Styling-wise, I still like the Maxima better than this new Altima.
Overall though a very good improvement for the Altima .

Interior looks upscale to me and overall it looks like a great family sedan and the 38 mpg highway (holy smoke). It even has dedicated TPMS for each wheel. I like it very much.

Nice update. It improves upon an already impressive previous-gen model. No way to go but up
P.S.
Oh and kudos to Nissan for its continued use of CVT gearboxes

I can imagine that the 4 cylinder version of the new generation will be selling very well. I do like the new camry but the Altima look nicer imho

I never understood how the outgoing model sold so well. Now this is a huge improvement and I can only imagine how high the sales are going to be.
I haven't been a fan of most recent Nissan's, I'm glad they didn't screw this one up.

Yes the Versa has been a flop, and seemingly the Altima a hit. More importantly is the middle child Sentra. It's been neglected way too long and this is the time to sink or swim considering its in one of the most hotly contested segments. They need to make it a standout. And for goodness sake we want an SE-R Spec V that kicks the GTI and SI!!
