because trade-offs have to be made, and only 3 people will buy them. similarly, while the lexus is has 3 different gas engines, you can only get a stick with the smallest v6.

The Cadillac marketers may (?) have noted that Lincoln tried a manual with the LS sedan V6, and got very few takers. They never did offer one on the LS V8, despite the fact that the LS was marketed to compete with the BMW 5-series, at a lower price.

I'm pretty sure the Cadillac marketers saw the take rate on their own CTS manuals and decided not to offer one on the V6.

ATS sounds great from the reviews. Between this and the C Class, BMW is going to have some trouble with the 3 series, I think.

The car looks sort of bland in pictures (kind of reminds me of the current gen Fusion), but much better in videos and moving footage. I like it a lot when I saw it at the ATL auto show...now I want to see one on the road!

Default China-only Cadillac ATS-L spied flaunting stretched wheelbase

To feature 100mm elongated wheelbase

A camouflaged prototype of the Cadillac ATS-L was spied recently in China, prior to an official introduction set for the second half of the year.

Chinese spy photographers caught on camera the long wheelbase Cadillac ATS which will be locally built by the Shanghai-GM joint venture. While the standard US-spec ATS has a 2775mm wheelbase, the China-only ATS-L will have an additional 100mm between the two axles so rear passengers will benefit from additional legroom.

In terms of motorization, Cadillac will offer the stretched China-spec ATS with either a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine developing 200 bhp (149 kW) or a larger 3.6-liter V6 outputting 320 bhp (238 kW).

The model will have to face some stiff competition coming from the BMW 3Li, Audi A4L and the recently introduced Mercedes-Benz C-Class L.

If they had an ATS-L in the US, I would seriously consider it as my next car. I just can't replace my 2IS with a car having a smaller back seat, which is what the ATS has now...

bottom line. it just doesn't have the appeal of it's german counterparts.

bottom line. way below msrp to make them move is my overall prediction.

Default Cadillac Refreshed 2015 ATS Sedan Spied Completely Naked

Less than three years since Cadillac launched the new ATS on the (U.S.) market in the summer of 2012 as a 2013MY, and GM is getting ready to release a mildly tweaked version labeled as a 2015 model, which our scoop photographers caught on the road without any camouflage whatsoever.

The only notable difference on the outside of this 2.5-liter base model (the only version with a single tailpipe) is the adoption of the newer ATS Coupe's front grille, complete with Cadillac's new wreath-less logo, and bumper design with a continuous single air dam featuring a chrome trim strip

With the exception of the new Cadillac badges on the boot and the wheels, the rest of the body seems unchanged for the 2015MY.

At this point, we don't know if Cadillac has made any updates to the interior and the ATS' hardware, but it shouldn't be long before we find out.

That's a problem with most small sports-sedans this size, not just the ATS.

I realize that--but the ATS is the worst I've seen, by far. The rear seat has less leg room than my '07 IS, and less leg room than the new Audi A3--which is about 7 inches shorter than the ATS.
