Should ask the photoshop section to create an actual grille/nose that we will see in production. I think it will look really good even with the bumper/grille divider.

Default Lexus SC to Return in 2016?

In its latest issue, Japanese magazine Mag-X suggests Lexus will be resurrecting the SC nameplate in 2016 with a production model based on the LF-LC concept — also included is a rendering of what the car might look like (see above).

According to Mag-X, the car would be 4750mm × 1900mm × 1350mm (only slightly larger than the LFA), and engines would include a 3.5L V6 hybrid and a 4.3L V8 turbo — the rest of the translated article is difficult to comprehend, but the timing lines up with a recent story from Automotive News:

After its rave reception at the 2012 Detroit show, Lexus’ flagship coupe concept received a green light from CEO Akio Toyoda. This 2+2 hybrid-powered coupe, which is likely to cost about $120,000, will be more akin to a high-performance LFA-like than a successor to the portly SC coupe. Toyoda has fast-tracked it to arrive in late 2015.

Luxury sport coupe Lexus, SC is restored. Large coupe that was abolished partly influence the Lehman shock, seems to have cast a big shadow on Lexus
When SC which is developed based on GS

I adopt a V8 turbo V6 and hybrid

The past few years, the Lexus presence is to dilute. Lies in the fact that his team was out of the grammar of product strategy on premium brand only by its cause. Business conditions and a company's economic environment is bad no matter how, if you can not expect sales of many, I was not supposed to Tayashi open model and coupe, a sports car which is indispensable to build the brand image.

Lexus also own a luxury sports coupe that won fame as a jewel "and" Lexus once "at (article concept model of the" LF-CC ") official site, was a big success by the SC. However, SC production It has posted a comment in 2010 since it was canceled, new alternative model to it and "has been required to portfolio of Lexus.

As we reported in this corner, in the summer of 2014 RC coupe model of Lexus resurrection appeared. However, this is based IS D-segment. The Lexus is a premium brand, it's the place I want the luxury coupe more. So, I was going to be the next generation SC which can be called the favorite of the coupe will be developed.

Lexus only the same as the IS and GS, SC chassis of the next generation will be the latest N platform. Or place, such as two-door version of the GS Sashizume specialty. The size of the body, which assumes total length 4700mm super, the width 1900mm super, car case will can imagine from its size. Overall height remains in 1350mm, (distance-to-ceiling head) head clearance of the rear seat is minimized. Toyota seems to have been developing simplistic and (car was a small sheet ancillary rear seat) 2 +2.

Power train, main V6 hybrid. Hybrid unit of 3.5L ride GS450h is the reasonable, but there is also a possibility that the next-generation technology is incorporated into the motor, displacement of the engine is downsizing. In addition, in order to face the BMW M6 and Mercedes-Benz E63AMG, high-performance specification to adopt V8 turbo lineup. Likely claiming the SC-F is large here.

※ It is a prediction about the announcement of the new car in the August 1, 2013. It does not guarantee a presentation

Default Lexus hints at new hybrid LF-LC supercar; New Supra maybe BMW-Toyota joint project?

Lexus is looking to fill the gap between its new RC Coupe and the out-of-production LFA with a new hybrid supercar.

The new car - to be based on the eye-catching LF-LC Concept Coupe - is all-but certain to be powered by a new high-tech, high-powered petrol-electric powertrain.

Lexus LFA chief engineer Tanahashi Haruhiko indicated a future supercar would most likely be hybrid powered in the vain of recent European offerings.

"You know Ferrari has already started using the hybrid car (the LaFerrari). Porsche's 918 started to use hybrid. They are using that motor, but their motor is a small-scale (electric) motor. It's not like something used by Lexus hybrids. Lexus hybrid is using a fully-fledged motor," he said.

"So I think going forward it will be very difficult for the supercar only using a petrol engine. I thought that LFA could be the last car using the pure engine only."

He says he is personally "sad" to see the end of engines such as the V10 of the LFA, but suggests the future isn't bleak in terms of alternative methods of propulsion.

"As you know there are two main streams in the market. One is turbo- or supercharging, and number two is the hybrid using the [electric] motor. The trend of the market is either to involve turbo- or supercharger, or hybrid motor. So there is a high possibility that that kind of [Lexus supercar] will be made in the future.

"I feel like that will not be easy, because LFA is purely not using the turbocharger or hybrid," he says.

"It will be hard to produce this kind of car in the future, I would say. That's my personal opinion."

Tanahashi-san says the possibility is there to adapt the brand's existing 5.0-litre V8 engine – as seen in the current generation IS F – to a hybrid drivetrain.

"If you're talking about supercar, maybe," he says, though he admits the current Lexus hybrid configuration may not be suitable for a more performance-oriented application.

"I think the Ferrari and other [brands with high performance hybrids are] using the engine and motor completely separate. From that model [of hybrid system], there could be some possibility."

When asked whether the new model could be a spin off of the well publicised tie-up between Toyota and BMW, Tanahashi-san was keeping quiet.

"I am not in the position (to say) whether the new models will come up or not, so I don't know whether that happen. However, maybe under the brand of Lexus, or maybe under the brand of Toyota, maybe another kind of sports car will be launched. And I hope that kind of sports car will be launched in the future," he says, hinting at a potential new Toyota Supra model as has been widely reported.

"Well I think that kind of talkings are going on in the company, that's what I heard."

Tanahashi-san says while a new supercar could be a way off, the lessons the brand has learned with the LFA will filter down through other models, including in Toyota's range.

"The DNA – the engine sound, engine response and engine feeling – I think these can be used the next IS F, next Lexus models and even for Toyota models," he says.
