I'm not holding my breath and I advise you to the same. I had a thread a while back in regard to the 4door coupe movement and Lexus blatantly ignoring it. I guess their focus was on the development of their highly anticipated 4GS and subsequent LS redesign. Time will tell if they change course as seemingly every manufacturer has since MB dropped the epic CLS 7 years ago.

I'm not crazy about it. The design does nothing for me and leaves me speechless because I am unsure of how to describe it and how I feel [nothing] about it.
To me the Audi A7 is still the most beautiful four door coupe in this class. An incredibly simple design, yet oozing with class, elegance, dynamism and futuristic [Teutonic] design. When I see an A7 on the street, I am stunned and amazed and in awe.

Having seen the CLS and A7 in person, I'm excited to see the 6GC "in the metal" to make an accurate comparison.
I'm not sure why, but it seems like Mercedes has sent the new CLS out of the factory with 4 inches of wheel gap. Has anyone else noticed this? The car sits like a Venza or Crosstour. At first, I thought the driver had the air suspension on it's highest setting, but I'm seeing more and more of them, and they all look the exact same. I like the design in colors such as white and black, where you can't see all of the curves, but I am just not sold on it like I was with the first gen.
A7 does nothing for me. The car looks like the love child of an A4 and Chrysler Crossfire.
I'd probably still have a 550i over any of them (including the 6GC). I love the new 5

I really think this car is dead sexy like the "real" 6 coupe. I don't know if this will help BMW because I think it will just cannibalize 5 series sales.
But, YES to another good looking car on the road.

I think this is better looking than the 6 series coupe.
I think the order goes CLS, 6 GC, Panamera, A7. The CLS is smooth yet aggressive. The 6GC is smooth and understated. The Panamera is crackingly fast but the hump bothers me. The A7 doesn't do it for me, the trunk looks like a dog running it's butt across the carpet.
The 5GT is by far the worst thing to come out of BMW in recent history.

I am thinking its insulting more than ever to call them coupes. I guess the 2/3GS was a 4 door coupe, so is the Jaguar XJ and XF too. They simply are another sedan built on an existing platform with a new name. Its brilliant from a marketing perspective but this BMW ain't even trying to act like a coupe. It looks like a 5 series with a lower windshield and roof. Its another same design, different name like the A7. At least the CLS doesn't resemble ANY Mercedes, this generation or last.
To the Germans credit they have invented a new niche that is doing great things for their image and people seem to love it. For those that still want 4 doors but don't want a plebeian 5/E/A6 they have the 6/CLS/A7 option. Utterly brilliant no way you slice it.
The Japanese brands clearly are moving like molasses. Lexus should be in this segment as soon as the CLS landed. These are huge image boost cars.
I can't blame BMW one iota for jumping in this profitable pond.

The label doesn't matter, what matters is people love these type of cars. Sleek/sexy design, sporty feel but four doors. This market segment really helped MB set themselves apart in the luxury market. Luxury car buyers are looking for cars like this...especially if one version is sporty and the other is green and fuel efficient.
Lexus should compete here and I hope they do.
