Ford Racing quietly shows off Mustang Boss 302SX
We can't get enough of the Boss Mustang 302, and it appears Ford Racing can't, either. Mustang Daily reports that Ford unleashed the newest member of the Boss family at the PRI show in Florida; the Boss 302SX. The Boss 302 concept is called the ultimate track car, and its stats tell the story.
The SX package delivers the updated looks of the 2013 model, and adds a bit more kick under the hood. The overhauled 5.0-liter V8 will reportedly crank out over 500 horsepower due to changes that include the same intake manifold as the 2013 Mustang Cobra Jet.
Mechanical upgrades also include an improved oil cooler, fuel system, adjustable coilover suspension and Ford Racing mufflers. Team Ford also made changes at all four corners with lightweight 18x9.5-inch wheels mated to racing slicks. And of course, Brembo brakes have been added all around and the interior features an FIA-spec six-point roll cage to protect whoever sits in the single Recaro seat behind the wheel.
Keep in mind that the Boss 302SX is just a concept for now, but all we can see is a serious track star that is begging for production.

I like it, though ive always been a Mustang fan having had more than 12 of them in various forms. But 500 n/a brake hp is great. I'm sure they will sell a ton of those engines in crate form and will find there way into a ton of resto mods, fox bodies, kit cars and the like. Damn I remember back in the 90's and beyond that you were a street terror if you had a fox body in the mid to high 300hp if you were hitting 400+ you were putting a hurting and damn near anything you came across (as a fox body esp a low option lx was a damn light car) But like it's been said many times the good old days are here now.
I had an 87 lx hatch back in the day that started life as a 4 banger beater. I bought it from a kid that went to RPI in upstate ny. Probably one of the best ones that i had, car was built right It was light weight had subframe connecters tubular k-member Saleen racecraft suspension 5 speed with a mild 302 but that car was a beast on the street back then with 4 wheel discs 5 lug conversion. I know who owns it then and would love to have it back. Wish i never sold it. Would love to have that car back with the above mentioned Crate motor, a t56 and probably upgrade the brakes to a bbk and revamp the suspension with Chicane motorsports kits with coilovers and modern wheels and tires. If i remember correctly when I had it the car came in under 3000lbs. Wow what a terror it would be now if i had a chance to rebuild it with modern components. Has me thinking.

Thanks Hoovey i know some people will get butt hurt by this, but im a realist but a car lover off all kinds and as much as i love mucle cars i have to be honest. Now some people will say and swear that real muscle cars died after 71 with cafe. But as an 80's baby i wasnt around in muscle car hayday but ive been around to know that a new (i know this is gonna hurt some) Camry will outrun a big block Chevelle in the 1/4 mile (providing its a V6) Hell my 2006 GTO or 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona will show there tailight to a Boss 429 ( and i would kill to have either afoer mentioned cars and a good frien of mine owns his dads numbers matching big block 70 Chevelle) And so people dont think im blowing smoke out my rear I owned a 73 4 speed Trans Am one of my first cars, Buick GN's a Typhoon and blah blah blah. But performance cars are happening now even after having to meet stringent gov standars. Wow when I was growing up and driving in the early 90's who would have ever thought. Honda and toyota mini vans are coming out with more hp than mustangs, comaros and vettes were back then.
