Default New 2jzge turbo project, not Lexus but BMW

Well I hope I dont get bagged for posting a BMW project on a Lexus forum, but people may be interested? So i recently bought a BMW 325e because im sick of fighting the weight of my sc300 and I crashed my Lexus the first FAWKING snow storm of the season. I plan on fixing it just tucking it away for now and focusing on others. Anyways on to it, first off the e30 is a whopping 2500lbs wet . being a 1000lbs lighter i think it will be easier/cheaper to build a drive train to handle the 400rwhp goal.
This is going to be a budget build, but budget is relative since i already have a MKIII 7mgte that has alot of parts ill be using.Currently Im debating putting a w58 that i have or just go tt auto? im thinking a manual will be easier since its already a manual car. I picked the car up for 500 bucks and a good running 2jzge for 200.

-As for fuel and electronics, I happened to have 440cc top feed injectors from the 7m that will be fitted to the ge rail. I welded to -8AN fittings on either side of the rail and a -6AN in the center for a dual feed rail setup. (good to 600hp?) I plan on running all new -8AN fuel line. I pulled the CPS from the 7m for a distributorless setup, as far as i know and chime in if you have experience but i plan to run a 2jz map sensor, 2jz ignitor & coils and hopefully can get all this running on a stock 2jzgte ECU. still not 100% sure on this but im crossing my fingers. if not ill just have to borrow the sc300 AEM, dang!!

-Mounting the 2jz was pretty straight forward, I choose to use the existing bmw motor mounts and build a new bracket to the motor. In order to make it fit you need a front sump oil pan, the 2jz i got from a 95 gs300 was already front sump yay!! It sits as far back in the engine bay as the sump will allow it against the rack & pinion. Still trying to decide if i want to pull the pan off and clearance 2inches off the pan, this would make for more room in between the radiator (only a half inch right now) the fan will be ran in front, using the stock BMW pusher fan, just need to build a fan shroud for maximum flow.
[IMG][/IMG]

-The radiator came from my MKIII and happened to fit perfect it even fits on the stock bmw bushings on the bottom and I used the stock mounts to bolt it in, so far i have been amazed at how smooth the swap is going. The water neck on the ge needed a little mod just cut it and reconfigured it to the right place.
[IMG][/IMG]
I was able to use the stock ge power steering pump and reservoir, i plan on running a custom FFIM to provide clearance of this. The stock BMW PS line used the same style banjo fitting, it was just a tad smaller so i filed it out and bang, bolted right on.

BMW was nice and made a slot for bolts to slide up and down the frame underneath, so mounting the trans will be cake. comparing the drive shafts side by side they appear to be the same diameter, this should make it easy to couple them together possible with a machined sleeve insert? BMW has the slip yoke at the carrier bearing i may get rid of this and run a 1 piece drive shaft.

Waiting on a turbo manifold as of now to start mocking up the turbo, and intercooler.

Thats it for now, ive only been working on this for a couple full days, so hopefully at this rate it will be up and running soon. Ill update as i go, any questions feel free to ask.

This is exactly what I want to do in the near feature. I just pick up a 93 sc3 parts car that I will be swapping the motor and tranny into a BMW. Just gotta find the BMW with a blown motor now. Good luck with the build and please keep this updated. You may want to look at bimmerfourms.com in their motor swap section. A few guys have done this swap.

This should be interesting. You should go with the W58 for the fun factor. Good luck with your build, this should be a beast E30 once you're done with it.

The car should be a handful even with only 400rwhp.

The e30 chassis is so much lighter.

There's a shop local to me (E-Shift Performance) that's pretty big into the BMW 2J swaps and their cars are impressive.

Hope to see the progress you make!

So I started getting the downpipe and turbo mocked up. i ended up just building a downpipe and exhaust with stuff i had laying around. looks pretty good for the price. still need to build the midpipe but im waiting on a trans so i can get the engine perfectly straight. My buddy has a r154 that needs syncrose for 200 bucks so ill build it while im in there and have more than enough tranny with that and a nice race clutch on the stock pressure plate for drivability. -So i got the car for 500.00
- my MKIII parts car was a Saturday worth of work, and i got the exhaust, intercoolerand piping, fuel pressure regulator, AEM wideband, blowoff valve, radiator etc off that. (say 500 bucks)
-500.00 MasterPower 60mm turbo/110 manifold,
-DM 48mm wastegate 100.00
-225.00. good running 2jzge w/ 200k (ill just boost the shat out of it till something goes)
-125.00 hydraulic brake booster need to clear manifold
-R154 with rebuild and jz housing maybe w/ clutch 1000.00
-custom intake manifold w, 100mm TB 300.00
-fuel supply with dual -8an feed rail and fuel pump 400.00
-AEM from the wounded sc3 1200.00
-ignitor with plugs 225.00 (to convert to DLI)
-map sensor 75.00

5260.00

Then you need an LSD to put the power down with a wide body so you can tuck a 275 wide rear tire. 1250.00
then you need the z3 5lug rear suspension setup w/ huge brakes and bigger axles, with 90s m3 front suspension setup. 1000.00

7500 bucks for a race car isnt bad, probably wont get that far but its fun to think about. i got RN loans to pay =(
