No problem.

Actually, 30-35K actually won't buy the kind of new car at all that many auto-enthusiasts would want, especially younger males. Often you hear things like Porsches, Corvettes, Ferraris, etc..... that start at two or three times that much....or more. That kind of driving, while, yes, admittedly fun once in a while, is just not for me every day......I'm primarily a reliability and traction-freak.

Actually, IMO thats the exact range most "younger males" are looking at when it comes to sporty/sport cars.

Here are a list of cars in that price range that are fun to drive or all out sports cars:

Nissan 370z
Subaru STI
Mitsubishi EVO
Chevy Camaro SS
Ford Mustang GT
MINI Cooper JCW
BMW 128i
Mazda RX-8
Mazda Miata
Hyundai Genesis Coupe
VW Golf R
Infiniti G37 Coupe

I'd even go so far and include these:

Lexus IS
Audi A4
Mercades C-class
Infiniti G-coupe

In any case, Its not a short list...

I'd get an NSX, probably the older ones with the pop-up headlight. Such a classic!!

So true.

The OP said anything, so my choice would be Ferrari 348 or Bentley Arnage or Porsche 996 Turbo. They are the most fun

HAH. I looked at these first thing, but no go. Even a mid 90's model was above the budget. Dodge Vipers on the other hand were well within the $35k mark, but a little to ostentatious for me and from what I hear the maintenance cost would rival the purchase price.

Can you tell me more about your line of thought here? Someone else recommended a 911 before, but I really don't know much of anything about Porsche or the 911 in particular. I would assume maintenance costs would be high here since it is a performance car. I'm open to the suggestion as long as $30k doesn't mean one falling apart.

Good suggestions. I'd like the 750 more for the driving experience but I'm afraid of being in the shop all the time so I'd probably take the LS instead. About the 911, why do you like this car? I don't know much about them and I'm interested in learning more.

Most of my family is in Alaska, and the Outback is actually the most popular car sold there. It's a relatively cheap way to get a reliable 4x4. I visited friends in the north east and they had an Outback and I was struck by how nice it was. Black on black with leather interior and a large nav screen -- very cool. And of course for outdoorsy folks (which is what I am) they have a lot of utility. So it is a great choice. The only problem for me is I think I'm looking for something a little more fun (whether that's in the form of unnecessary luxury or sport) because in the future I'll be a family man and I'm sure I will give up on life and end up wanting a minivan for practicality!

It's a deal. I will happily buy a F 348 or Bentley Arnage (your choice) from you for $30,000. Just PM me and I'll give you my address for delivery!

Yes, I agree that 30-35K will by many of those vehicles you list brand-new, but that wasn't what I was referring to in my post. What I was trying to say is that many younger males (and not just a stereotype...that includes a number of other buyers, too) buy these cars ONLY because they cannot afford the cars they fantasize about or REALLY want......high level Coervettes, Shelby Mustangs, Ferraris, Porsches, Lambos, etc.....

In any case, Its not a short list...[/QUOTE]

Glad to see a lot of NSX fans here. I'd go for an used '93-00 Grand Prix White NSX.
