Great story, great pics, and congrats! However, with the new 3 body debuting now, I'd feel the car will be yesteryear's thing in short time.
It would be nice to have the new gen 3 series, on the other hand, the next M3 will be turbo charged 6cyl. I think the current high revving V8 is the way to go. All BMW's are gong to turbo charging and down sizing. Auto companies are trying to meet Obama's fuel economy mandates. It's a shame, first the V10 leaves the M5, now V8 leaves the M3.
Congrats on your new M3! Great pics too! I went to Germany too last month, and rented a Mercedes C-klasse estate in Munich. It was a great experience to drive on the autobahn, driving to Ingolstadt for the Audi tour and also Schloss Neuschwanstein. Stunningly beautiful country, great beer and fantastic food.
Congrats OP. Isn't M3 supposed to be more reliable than the 335i isn't it since it doesn't utilize turbo's..
from personal experience my answer is yes. i do see engine problems on the m3, but because it's NA and given the HPFP problem on the 335, the m3 does seem more reliable. my car has been so good to me the past 3 yrs

the body itself maybe, but i know a lot of people (m3 owners and fans) aren't happy about the upcoming FI setup (on m3 and m5). same with me, i am not as excited about that either. i am glad i got the last NA setup in v8
