When we were driving our rental cars during our Vacation in America last year (Ford Fusion and Ford Escape), we preferred filling up at stations under:

-Chevron Texaco
-ConocoPhilips

Sam's club, they are cheaper than ARCO, don't care tier 1 gas for my cars. If I get an other nice car, I will go Chevron though.

Would have voted Mobil if it were on the list. They consistantly have the lowest prices in my neck of the woods.

Why isn't BP and Hess not on the list?
I use mainly BP because its closest to my house lol. I would use Shell but there arent any in my area.

Since I relocated for school this semester, I've been using Maverick, because it's the cheapest. I don't think you guys back east have it. When my current tank reaches empty though, I'm going to fill up at Shell. It's cheaper than Chevron here and closer to my apartment. I'm hoping I can see better fuel mileage with Tier 1 gas.

I buy the cheapest gas from the largest terminal I can find. More turnover = less contamination. Discount outlets buy their stock from the big refiners anyway, why pay the premium? If it meets SAE and EPA standards, go for it. For some reason, even though Shell has a huge refinery just East of Houston in Deer Park, its gas is at least 10¢/gallon more expensive than the next highest price product. The Dutch have enough money, I intend to keep mine at home.

BP is trying to blow us off the map with regular plant explosions down in Texas City.

Exxon/Mobil is making up for all those years of gas wars. I owned their stock, hoping to get some of my money back. Didn't happen.

Texaco has a worldwide reputation for being cheap. I worked in the business for many years, and as a Scottish friend of mine said as he pointed at their logo sign as we passed the local business office in Aberdeen, "Ye see tha', th' big "T" stands fer "TIGHT"! When a Scot tells you someone's "tight", you'd better listen.

In order of preference: Shell, Chevron, Mobil. And always 91 octane. Never put anything else
