I love Godzilla since the R32 days, but its too bad they couldn't address the main shortcomings which is non-performance related: maintenance costs - http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtest...expensive.html. Id consider this a daily driver but the outrageous price for routine dealer visits would have me hunting something else instead. I know....you gotta pay to play.....to bad, the days of the 90's super japanese cars with hi horsepower, reliability, and cost of ownership are long gone..../sigh

Like Lexus updating the ISF every year or two, Nissan is also consistently upgrading and improving the GTR.
Considering that there is only 3 or so high performance Japanese cars compared to what seems like 100's of high performance European cars, constant improvement may be needed just to keep up/stay ahead. I just hope what they do doesn't **** off many owners of previous model year vehicles.

I have to give it to Nissan for not resting on their laurels with the GT-R.
I happened to watch Top Gear on BBC America the other day, and saw the test of the 2012 GT-R which finished 9th on their power lap times.
Shocking lap time for sure, considering the cars it's faster than and also near; all at a reasonable price.

Horsepower wars are stupid.
It depends how much the price bump is and if they offer this as an an upgrade to previous owners again. After all, the '08 GTR represents a much better value proposition than the current model.

Supercars aren't where you want to look for high hp and certainly not for hp/$. There are cheaper cars than the GTR that make more than 530hp stock. And just to put things in perspective, the 2013 Shelby GT500 is supposed to make 620hp.

it sucks that the 2012 model is only going for 6 months...but i guess its not that bad since most of the major updates were introduced in 2012.... i wonder what it would be like down the road like 10 years from now when these cars are for sale used? will the 2012 be considered rare?
