Default 2012 benz CLS

wow do the germans just keep slamming on the designs or what ? wow!! good thing about this is that it will lower the price of the first generation 2005 to 2011 CLS... which in many ways will forever be timeless and a triumph in design.

a lowered first generation CLS, black with proper wheels on AMG bumper package will always strike fear! wow!

are you kidding? That thing looks like a$$, as do most MB sedans with their extra long nose and butts. And since MB makes so many version of their cars and they all look so similar, the value will fall 45% day minute you drive it off the lot. But, to each his own.

Wow, you mean I'll be able to buy a six month old CLS550 for $40,000? I rode in a CLS63 a couple of weeks ago. If I had $80k it would be a no brainer - I'd own a CLS.

The new CLS is an awful design, the headlights and taillights are shaped awkwardly, surfaces aren't resolved as well as you'd expect for a car of its price, and it just looks over styled. The shape is the only thing it has going for it.

Ya know, you could just say you don't like it instead of all the analysis because if someone else likes it, then there is no such thing as not resolved surfaces to them.

I've always maintained there are two components to car design: Aesthetics and quality. Aesthetics is how the car looks, and this is very subjective. Some people think a certain car looks beautiful, others not so much. Quality is how the design is executed, whether short cuts were taken to cut costs and yes how the surfaces "resolve". It's not cut in stone though, just my view.

since the thread has nothing to do with 4gs as original title implied, the title has been changed and related posts removed.

Beautiful car! Love it. Originator of the segment and still the benchmark.

Don't care for the overstyling, unnecessary lines, flamboyancy, and droopiness. This car's design is suffering in many ways and I think the first generation will become a classic over time.

In person the new CLS is one of the best looking cars on the road, and it is the best handling sedan I have driven short of an M5.

The only reason I am not buying it is the cabin tech is 2005.

in real life, CLS has a nice, expensive presence.

Granted I've yet to see either of these cars IRL so who knows. The badge though is huge on the CLS. Also if you want an example of poor "surface resolve" just look at the fog light area on the two cars and compare them. You have all these nasty plasticky looking seams on the Merc where the surfaces come together. This is a big beef I have with Mercedes cars in general, the GLK is the worst at it.

Just horrid, probably the single worst executed car design on the market today (of course IMO).

Add in the S Class is so much classier than the LS.
