Ford Evos Concept is a sexy sign of things to come

We now know what Ford is planning for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The manufacturer has released a slew of photos and information on its new Evos Concept – a design study that will likely influence the look of the company's products in the near future. While we aren't likely to see many four-door gullwing hatchbacks in the Ford product line any time soon, chances are that the automaker's artists will roll in elements like smaller, more discreet headlamps, more vertical hexoganal grille and a sleek silhouette. According to Ford design guru J Mays, the new look is penned, "not to provoke, but to seduce."

The look is likely to command Ford design for the next five years or so, and you won't hear any complaints from us on that front. Inside, the Evos also hints toward what's coming down the pike in terms of interior design as well. With a driver-oriented instrument panel and an inverted 'L' climate system, Mays says that future Ford models will boast a more cockpit-like feel.

Befitting a true concept car, Ford says that the Evos is powered by the same plug-in hybrid drivetrain found in the C-Max Energi. That means that a set of lithium-ion batteries store and release electricity to allow the vehicle to operate primarily as an electric vehicle.

Am I the only one that sees a bit of 8th gen accord coupe styling cues in the back half of the car?

I do like the styling though.

Pretty cool for Ford.
I was just thinking recently how there are virtually ZERO concept cars out. Ten years ago every manufacturer had something they were baking, something all new, totally different, and supposedly a game changer. Today, there is basically nothing, save maybe for the upcoming Toyota/Scion coupe and that full-size Caddy sedan. Definitely a sign of the times. Automakers have cut back as much as they can, including the big stuff like this.

well.
by the time they put a proper dimension headlight (you don't really think that headlight opening is going to project enough light with regular light bulb, right?) , it will look just like Honda Accord from the front and side, probably with different grill and fog light but nothing else.

the back is going to provide a extremely limited view, sort like ZDX/X6 if you know i mean, only worse because ZDX and X6 has the height to compensate. it tries to look like lamborghini aventador, however, it is too tall to finish the end like that, so it added another "layer" of bumper which make it look pretty busy, and not in a good way.

only thing that i see will made to production, if it ever, will be
fog light.
tail light.
side and front body panel.

I think this car looks fantastic. Definitely in the right direction for Ford. If they made a Lincoln like this that was based on the Mustang platform, it would be a hit.

Come on Alan!

The design looks great. I still don't get what your trying to point out in the design. It looks nothing like that hideous accord.

i guess this is one thing that you really need to see in person. PR shoot can be extremely deceiving.

and 8gen accord isn't a bad looking thing.

Sexy looking car. But an electric hybrid motor? Not befitting of a sexy car like this. This should have no fewer than 8 cylinders. Slap a supercharger on that 5.0 and let er rip.

Looks sexy, but how well will it translate to actual road going vehicles?

A quick glance, yes. But after a few seconds one can see the Taurus grille shape. This looks fantastic.
