Munich Police get the new F11 BMW 5 Series Touring

BMW and Munich Police continue their long-term collaboration and the new F11 BMW 5 Series Touring will enter the Bavarian emergency fleet.

The modern emergency vehicle feature a green and white paint job with reflective contour markings and inscriptions specially created by the BMW Group design team. The police flashing lights on the roof can be easily controlled using the iDrive controller. The cars also come equipped with front and rear view cameras.

While no longer available in the U.S., the BMW 5 Series Touring remains a popular choice among European customers. Considered a versatile and classy vehicle, the BMW 5 Series Touring is continuing its tradition with the latest model.

The design of the new BMW 5 Series Touring is characterized by dynamic and powerful looks. With its long bonnet, short overhangs and a steeply inclined roofline, the new BMW 5 Series Touring is one of the most beautiful Tourings ever to come out of BMW’s production lines.

In Germany, the F11 BMW 5 Series Touring starts at 42,600 Euro, the 184 horsepower 520d model, followed by the cheapest petrol variant, BMW 523i with 204 horsepower which starts at 44,500 Euro.

Seems like the Bavarians are updating, this summer the scene was dominated by the 3 series.

Here in Stuttgart they are using W203 C classes, W210, W211 and W212 E classes.

Even the B class is a cop car.

Wow!

There are a number of Jaguar police cars up and down the motorway network but traditionally most are Volvo V70 T5 wagons or BMW 3/5 series Tourings.

At one point, your police was considering using the Jaguar XF Diesel S as part of the police vehicle fleet expansion.

Was the decision approved?

P.S.
There are of course police vehicles in the UK that are local in origin. Most common are the Vauxhall Omega cars and the Land Rover vehicles used (those who've seen 101 Dalmatians the movie would observe this)

There were half a dozen Jaguar XFs knocking around but all police forces are different and make their own choices. You also get the odd specials like the IS-F that they had in Humberside and you sometimes see Subaru Impretza Turbos and Mitsubishi Evos.

The last of the Vauxhall Omegas were retired over 6 or so years ago and anyway they were made by GM/Opel in Germany. As you say you do get a lot of Land Rover Discoveries as well.
