In my opinion Mr. Akio Toyoda please grow and maintain the Lexus brand worldwide. Keep the LFA halo car by introducing the convertible version (another 500 worldwide) and bring back the SC.

I think it would be cool to see Lexus retire the HS for a few years and then reintroduce it as a high performance hybrid 4 door coupe. No gas model offered - something like the ultimate statement of Lexus performance with hybrid technology.
I still maintain the fact that once IS and ES hybrids are born, the HS will become even more irrelevant as an entry level product, and thats not even considering the CT.

I could easily be off on this, but I think we've heard the same pitch for the last 12 years from Lexus/Toyota. "...we'll make it sportier, we'll inject life into this and that, we'll make our cars stand out more..." Haven't we heard this a million times before? This is just a different person saying the same thing. Lexus's role is pretty much set right where the bread and butter sales are and I don't think they are that willing or desperate to change it too much. And I don't think they should. It's a successful business with a solid following. Akio's words are what enthusiasts and the press wants to hear, so he's saying it.

How are sales these days? I'm willing to bet that they would have been leagues better if Lexus had just built a damn ES hybrid in the first place.

The HS is totally irrelevant. Both it and the ES start at the same price. An ESh would probably run the same price as an HS Premium, if not be in fact cheaper. Build the HS cheaper and you walk smack dab into CT territory.

If they build ES hybrid, it will be more expensive than HS. And bigger. And different.

Fairly similar in size and interior volume. The problem is that the HS makes no sense in the Lexus lineup. It's an irrelevant car. An ES hybrid is essentially what the HS should have been, how exactly would they be "different" how much more expensive?

Lexus should have introduced the ES 300h a long time ago. The ES line does sell well today and stills sells more than the IS with many variants.
Lexus could also bring to market an ES 350 C two door coupe based on the Toyota Solara...
