I know a FWD version wasn't available when I reviewed the new Explorer several months ago......I asked the Ford people about that. And a 2.0, if they adapt it (and I'll take your word that it's coming), seems pretty small for that size vehicle, even with turbo boost. Other manufacturers, like VW, Audi, Kia, and GM, use 2.0T's for small-to-medium-sided cars, not SUVs with the weight of an Explorer.

Yeah Marshall I agree it's a small displacement engine (for propelling a vehicle this size), but it should prove to be a match to the old 4.0L V6. Obviously I can't confirm to you at this time when it'll be out or even power specs, but based on general talk and the European Mondeo and S-Max with the 2.0 EcoBoost; expect power output to be around 237hp and 250lbft (1,750-4,000 rpm) at 16psi. The old 4.0 had 210hp and 254lbft at 3,700 rpm for what it's worth. (I'll provide the article link). From what I've also heard about this is only FWD will be offered with the 2.0. I think marketing wise the omission of AWD is bad despite the price and weight hike. Doesn't mean they can't crank the boost hah. The Focus ST should have around 247hp initially with it's 2.0 EcoBoost.
