Feels like Porsche will stay with the flat-6 for as long as they can, there are still tons of other stuff they can do........turbo, electric assist, I think the biggest and easiest thing is reduces weight. The 997 is still mostly steel, it barely got any aluminum on it, let alone carbon fiber.

I think weight reduction is the future as power for internal combustion engine are pretty much maxed out. Modern cars are so heavy, there are tons of weight reduction available.

Power will stay the same + less weight = faster cars.

I was talking about a 911 4s. The gt3 is basically a race car with a cat.

Well Dr. Drillz has a GT3 and had a C4S so I think he would know

Not quite.

GT3 Cup and GT3 RSR are race cars........and they got almost nothing in common with the street GT3 and GT3 RS.

Umm yes, and I never said that they have anything in common. The GT3 was built for people that want a car that they can track and basically take on anything on the course. The GT3 RS is a propper race car.
...The American version of the RS has a standard rear window (not plexiglas) and the smaller 911 fuel tank to comply with rules of SCCA, Grand-Am, and IMSA. For Grand-Am races, the central locking wheel nut is replaced with the standard five-lug pattern required under Grand-Am rules...

From your statement above, a street GT3 is a GT3 Cup/RSR with a cat.......meaning identical with an extra cat.

Yes, the street GT3 is a highly track tuned street car. A race car detuned for the street is something totally different.

Well my statement still stands. Basic logic says if a car has race car specifications ( GT3 RS) there for it is a race car. SCCA, Grand-Am, IMSA have safety requirements so you can race it, if you can race it means it's a race car.

Our definition of "race car" is different

This is how Porsche defined street vs. race cars:

If you want to be educated:

Street car:

Race cars:

although a gt3 is prepped for some track duty right from the factory, i still consider it a street car. a rough and raw street car. real "race" cars dont have carpet, power windows, heated power seats, navigation, stereos, etc.
