Default What sports car would you buy for $32k?

I'm looking to trade in my daily driver IS250 for something different. Works stressful and I need something FUN. What sports car would you recommend for $32k max?

I'm thinking 07' Corvette. Tons of power, targa (yay!), relatively low maintenance and daily drivable. Thoughts?!

the corvette is actually a very good choice for a fun car that matches all your needs: different, power, and low maintence

A 'Vette, agreed, is fun to drive (in safe conditions), but it will probably not have the same kind of reliablity that an IS250 does. Insurance premiums will (likely) be higher. I don't know what kind of shape your back and legs are in (I'm assuming you are a younger man), but, if not, low-slung sports cars can be difficult get in and out of. And forget driving a 'Vette in the winter, especially without purpose-designed snow tires.

For 32K, before buying a used 'Vette, consider a brand-new Mustang GT. GTs start around 30K. I recently reviewed one, and was generally pleased with it except for the balky 6MT....but the balky linkage may have been a quirk on my test car. Other reviews did not mention any problem. Like the 'Vette, though, it does have the 1-4 Skip-Shift feature for economy.

Get the vette. I had a C3 and C5 - both with targa tops. Modern vettes are comfortable, fairly reliable, and get good MPG on trips. You can remove the top, secure it in the back, and drive without a lot of turbulence in the cabin. Besides, the vette gets 'em wet.

About the NSX, if you by nice you mean low mileage and fairly new? No. However, you can find 91-94 NSX's with around 60-100K miles on it for that price all day. When it comes to this car I'm not afraid of going well over 100K miles. I'm looking to buy another NSX and since I just bought a house, I have my eye on a few 91-94's with around 100K miles on it for $25-$30K range. Most people just can't spend $30K on a 20 year old car though so they just pass up one of the best cars to own. What most people don't realize is they can buy that 20 year old car for $30K, drive it for a few years, then probably sell it for just about $30K or maybe a little less to someone else.

Example, I bought my 92 in 2003 for $32K with about 80K miles on it. Drove it for 3 years and sold it in 2006 with 90K+ for about $27K to my brother. Now here we are in 2011, and the prices haven't come down at all. I'm still going to have to spend around $30K for a 91-94.

If we are talking sports cars (not just sporty cars), Boxster S around 2005/2006 should be considered.
