What sports car would you buy for $32k?

Agreed, tho, good luck in finding one with low mileage and hasn't been salvaged for that price. I've been looking at these for years and it seems that I've missed the boat on picking up a good quality one for this low price range. All the ones that I find in acceptable condition tend to be north of 45k.

The problem with the NSX is you wont find one for cheap because most owners love the car and won't let it go. If you've ever been to an NSX meet or hung around with an NSX owner, you'll know they take really good care of their cars. If they are ever on sale, the mint ones are no cheaper than $40k usually even with 75k or so miles. Towards 30K you might see some that haven't been taken care of as well or have been in an accident. There's not many too choose from when buying an NSX usually...its either you get one that mint that the owner loved like their own child or you get one that was abused as a weekend car.

Is this gonna be your DD? If so I'd skip on the NSX, I don't care how well the owner took care of it, if the car is old with some miles it'll will give you problems. Mustang, Vettes, S2000 are all good cars. AMG's and bimmers are nice but dealers will rape you in service costs.
EDIT: If you like your IS but would like more oomph, why not trade up to IS350? Reason I say this is because I dd'ed my Z for a year. It was fun in the beginning but it got tiresome getting in n out of it and being stuck in traffic wasn't fun.

Viper is the only way to go. Hands down. 96+ RT/10 or 2003+ SRT/10 if you can find one for the price you mentioned. I like the older model better, but whichever you get, make sure to invest in a good Driving/Racing School. I attended Skip Barber, and (while pricey) the techniques I learned there at age 18 have saved my life on more than one occasion. Vipers are EXTREMELY hard on clutches to begin with. Even if you KNOW how to drive it, plan on putting a clutch in it every 50k miles, if not sooner if you DD it. That V10 RAPES clutches on the older models. Newer (03+) have a beefier clutch.
But you know, for $20k, you could get a nice used Cobra...and $12k in an american musclecar performance market can make ALOT of power. We are talking in the 600-700 RWHP range.

A C5 z06 would be a fun, fast, and reliable car. I was surprised that the insurance premium was actually a couple hundred less than my E46 m3.
A C6 vette is also a great choice, but in terms of performance the C5 z06>C6 vette and is cheaper too.
S2000 are great cars, but if it's power you want, the s2000 will disappoint.
