Interesting.

So much can be done in that piece of land.

It's a bit of a drive, but it has potential.

The unforgiving desert weather may not be optimal for sporting events though...

I've driven by this proving ground while visiting a friend in 'nearby' Edwards AFB.

Depending on what is on the property, it can go for as little as $1K per acre in the area (sometimes less). That translates to $1M for 1K acres, or about $5K a month in payments. If you parcel it out or have buyers or developers you can work with, that's a pittance, really.

As for the proving grounds, I would estimate it's going for about $8K per acre, putting it in the $34M range. Now, where did I put my checkbook...

Honestly, with the amount of undeveloped space on there, if you partnered up with some of the bigger solar companies to develop the land for that purpose, you could probably do pretty well. Rent the track out to car clubs and require them to get insurance, and I have to believe it's a pretty cool (if not ludicrously fun) opportunity.

Who is down for a group buy? How many members are there here, 5K? That's about $7K each. Hmmm...lifetime access to a racetrack for $7K. Bargain!

I wonder why they are selling it? Do they have a bigger proving ground as a replacement?

You're not too far off, but normally $1k per acre is straight desert.

I don't know what the price is for Honda's testing grounds, but there must be a very limited number of potential uses and therefore potential buyers.
