Default Yahoo's Most Affordable Luxury Cars -- Lame, RIGHT?!

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...xury-vehicles/

I fail to see how any of these are luxury cars. They're expensive economy cars. The Lexus ISx rings in at a $35-40k price range so why was this car or any other similar luxury cars, excluded on the list.

I know you can say this is simply a matter of semantics but they're the ones doing the reporting. Yeah, I definitely hate Yahoo a little more each day.

Did you actually read the story?

because the article makes it clear why the IS and similar vehicles (G37, etc) aren't there.

We included any car, truck or SUV with a price of at least $40,000
(they're talking base price, not optioned out)

It's certainly an idiotic criteria for "luxury" but that's what they used.

The first sentence in that article will tell you why they chose the vehicles they did:

Shopping for a luxury car this year? Get a truck.
that said, it's Yahoo... MSN Auto is a little better, but not by much

Yeah I read the article.

Here's another one from Car&Driver that Yahoo posted. This one pisses me off even more:

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...cars-for-2011/

On top of excluding any Scion/Toyota/Lexus vehicles from the 2011 list, they have to slight Toyota in the opening. Shameful. It's the reason I'd rather come to forums like these, and not read what the so called "experts" have to say.

^I agree with that top 10 article a lot more than this terrible luxury article with the crap criteria. I actually agree that a Toyota/Lexus/Scion did not deserve to be on on the top 10 list, I know blasphemy writing that from a guy that ownes an IS, but really the only car that can come close is the IS350 or ISF. The 3 series is still the best in its class (although 4 door still doesn't look great) and it would be one of the best cars out there if it weren't for all the issues Bimmers have nowadays.

The IS needs to be a bit more sportier and lighter to get on this list. But one or two of those cars on that list shouldn't have been on there. That's my stance.

Hard for me to understand putting the Chevy Volt on the list as a 'best' car when absolutely no one knows anything about real world reliability in heat, cold and under all circumstances that a car experiences, especially with brand new, never tried before technology. GM has come a long way from the Chevy Vega of the early 70's with warped heads and aluminum engine blocks, or have they?

A Lexus sport sedan will never make it onto a Car and Driver list as serious competition to the BMW 3 series. Ain't gonna happen no matter what Lexus would come with.

Oh I wasn't saying it would compare as serious competition, just that it would become a better car with it. Fact is that the 3 series has gotten the formula down to near perfection and that is why everyone wants to compete to it. Ads always say "more room than a 3 series" "faster than a 3 series" for a reason. But none of them have come close, not the A4, IS, C class, or anything else that sprouts up.

Car and Driver is a shameless pimp for BMW. Anyways, here are the car manufacturer ads in my 2009 buyer's guide -

inside full page - Ford
Suzuki
Hyundai
Buick
Lincoln
Saturn (oops they're gone)
Nissan
Honda
BMW
Cadillac
Acura
Infiniti
Chevrolet

I'll bet Toyota or Lexus never ad's with them. And that's why I love Toyota/Lexus. They don't play games within auto cliques. They're discreet, yet make arguably the best motors in the world.

The author should title the article "Most affordable $40,000 Cars" and take the luxury out of it. Not sure how the Volt is first outside of the press trying to sell it to everyone as the 2nd coming

To be honest a luxury car that includes free maintenance should be included on here no?
