Man, those pictures look bad. Who knows what else they tried to do to it?

If I were in your shoes, I'd try to refuse the car at all! I don't know if this car is new (I see the Lexus badge on the left there - maybe it is a new 2010??)

Man, I would be so pissed! This should be a happy time and you should be very excited. This is no way to start a new relationship with this car. It must be AMAZING!

Oh man, those pictures are horrible. I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. I think you're smart to get legal advice, and I think the fact they blatantly lied to you means that they should be picking up the legal fees as well.

I'm hoping that maybe once it's all said and done...you can turn this horrible situation into a positive; Personally I think they should buy you out and you should have enough extra cash to upgrade (or at least purchase some mods if you decide to keep it).

Good luck!

supposedly, the car was placed on top of the carrier truck and went through an underpass. Hits a bump and my roof hits the ceiling of the bridge/underpass or whatever it is.

the owner of the transport company says the driver stalled for over 2 1/2 weeks trying to fix the car.

Wow once they found out about the damage you should have been contacted. That's really not acceptable. Good luck bro

Yes, they should buy you out. THEY seriously screwed up the car.

Well it looks like somebody is now out of a job.... But that explanation sounds funny in itself. If it hit a bump, then hit the underpass...you would think that the bump would be known and fixed or that this has happened there in the past. There ARE allowances for clearance.

But that's horrible! He had no right to start work on your car. At all.

So what are you going to do?

/agreed. The explanation does seem a little sketchy especially from the damage shown on the car.

I also agree he had no right to work on your car. That's beyond absurd.

I'm happy you are getting an attorney because I think it'll be much more beneficial down the road rather than taking the easy way out and trying to trust them now to make it right (especially since they apparently lied with various excuses along the way).

I'm just not buying "the owner of the transport company says the driver stalled for over 2 1/2 weeks trying to fix the car." What company lets a shipment go missing for 2 1/2 weeks? That's absurd. I think the bottom line is if you wouldn't have pushed the issue they would have covered it up. Accidents happen, but imho this behavior is completely unethical, and I would have no qualms about hitting them hard.

Let us know what you are going to do! :-) I'm sure we all would like to hear a happy ending on this one!!

he's offering me 17-18k for it.

the car has about 43k miles on it. i think kbb has it for 20K+ as a trade. 25k retail.

still weighing my options here:
1)fix it and risk salvage title as he claims
2)sell it
3)try to sue

What did you pay for the car?

At the very least, he should buy you out for what you paid plus whatever fees you paid for him to transfer the car.

This company seems really shady.

I'd talk to a lawyer regardless of what I do (as I'm sure you will do as well).

Man this sucks for you. It pains me to see those pictures =/

I wouldn't settle for what he's offering you for the car. That's really not how a business is ran. They should have some sort of insurance that deals with issues like this as well. I'd get a lawyer involved.
