G25 seems to have provided a nice bump...but Infiniti has also been doing a good bit of advertising too, so consider that. Overall...nice

BMW Group U.S. Reports November 2010 Sales

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ --The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported November sales of 22,883 vehicles, an increase of 27.1 percent from the 18,002 vehicles sold in November 2009. Year-to-date, the BMW Group has sold 238,157 vehicles, up 9.3 percent from the 217,840 units sold through November 2009.
"November is normally a tough month but we increased our sales momentum thanks to strong demand for our all-wheel-drive vehicles, the X5 and X6 in particular, and now that it's available, the 5 Series with AWD," said Jim O'Donnell, President and CEO of BMW of North America, LLC. "The overall market shows signs of improvement with consumer confidence increasing slightly but our dealers know they have to work for every sale and that work is paying off."
BMW Brand Sales
Sales of BMW brand vehicles in November increased 30.2 percent for a total of 20,097 vehicles from the 15,438 units sold in November of last year. Year-to-date, BMW sales are up 11.8 percent to 196,833 vehicles from the 176,104 units sold in the same period of 2009.
In November, best performing vehicles included the 5 Series, up 58 percent to 5,042 units, 1 Series, up 40.7 percent to 1,019 units, and the 3 Series, up 36.6 percent to 8,928 units. The SAV segment continues to perform very well with the X5, up 24 percent to 3,436 units and the X6, up 30.8 percent to 561 units.
BMW Pre-Owned Vehicles
Sales of BMW's used vehicles (including certified pre-owned and pre-owned) increased 6.5 percent to 12,580 vehicles from the 11,815 units sold in November of last year. Year-to-date, used vehicle sales were up 5 percent to 153,048 units from the 145,763 units sold in the same period of 2009.
MINI Brand Sales
MINI USA reported sales of 2,786 automobiles, an increase of 8.7 percent from the 2,564 cars sold last year. Year-to-date, MINI USA is reporting sales of 41,324 automobiles, a decrease of 1 percent from the 41,736 cars sold in the same period of 2009

I don't think it has. 09 November was horrible for Infiniti, this year they sold 2800+ sedans which is still a weak month for them. Any increase realized for Nov 2010 should have been realized on the strength of the G37 alone. The G25 should have really given them a significant jump.

As I stated since day one all its going to do is hurt their own profits as people buy the G25 over the G37 and try to save even more money over the value car in this segment.

Post Hyundai

Hyundai Motor America today announced an all-time record for November sales of 40,723 units, up 45 percent versus 2009.
November retail sales were up 85 percent from last year. For the year-to-date, Hyundai has already established a new annual sales record with total volume of 493,426, up 23% versus the same 11 month period in 2009, with retail sales up 33% for the same period. Fleet sales mix for the month of November was 11 percent.

"We are encouraged by a second consecutive month of strengthening industry retail sales. With Hyundai's rapidly expanding lineup of fresh, fuel-efficient and high quality products, we're positioned right in the sweet spot for this recovery,"
said Dave Zuchowski, executive vice president of sales, Hyundai Motor America. "Hyundai's DNA is all about delivering best-in-class value, quality and fuel efficiency. We are equally committed to providing customers with a memorable retail experience as was recently reflected in our improved position in the rankings of the 2010 J.D. Power and Associates U.S. Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI), where Hyundai was the most improved brand in the industry and the top-ranked Asian brand. We have aggressive plans in place to sustain this momentum into December and leverage a healthy holiday selling season to finish out this record-breaking year with a flourish."

With the first 192 sales of Hyundai's all-new 2011 Elantra already recorded this month, Hyundai begins a new sales-reporting methodology it hopes all brands in the industry will follow. "The 2011 Elantra is the first of four planned 40-mpg vehicles in Hyundai's lineup," said John Krafcik, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. "But for us, leadership isn't how many low-volume special-edition 40-mpg models we offer, but rather how many 40-mpg vehicles consumers actually buy. We aim to lead the industry in the sales of 40-mpg vehicles, and to make this a challenge that everyone can follow, we'll be the first to report our monthly 40-mpg vehicle sales tally. We'd love to see others follow our lead."

Elantra, Sonata, and Tucson sales for November increased 41%, 72%, and 243% respectively, while Genesis achieved an all-time sales record of 3,005 units, up 72%, marking the 17th consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases for Hyundai's award-winning premium car. Genesis will be joined by Equus, Hyundai's all-new flagship, in dealership in December.

Ouch for Toyota, not good at all. Looks like the incentives haven't done much. Toyota needs new product ASAP to counteract the damage the US government witch hunt did to Toyota's image. Next-gen Camry absolutely needs to be an exceptional product, a clear class leader. That will be an important step in improving Toyota's image and reputation.

Lexus though was very solid. Amazing how well the ES continues to sell, even though it is a dated car that will soon see a redesigned version. IS sales continue to be solid, and LS is selling very well too. GX and RX sales also solid as usual.

Great month for most automakers. Ford in particular with a solid month.

Just as I predicted, looks like the party at Hyundai is over in terms of the Sonata's impressive numbers. Sonata for November dropped to 5th in sales in the midsize segment, 14K sales. Things won't get any easier when the redesigned Camry debuts. The Genesis is selling well, I admit better than I thought it would be. I wonder how many sales are conquest sales and how many are current Hyundai owners. Also would be interesting to see the conquest data in terms of what brands are the conquests coming from.

November seemed to be not so great, they are higher than last year but they SHOULD be. Toyota is dealing with;
-older product
-better competition
-continued bad press
-struggling economy
-horrible yen

Damn near the "Perfect Storm"

Paul, Genesis incentives and leases are spurring sales and I think the word it getting out on the good product. Also it includes coupe and sedans and we have never seen a breakdown of the two. The coupe starts at 21-30k, very accessible for buyers.

Over the past few months, have Genesis lease and incentives been above average, or better than usual?

Thanks for the info everyone...as posted above:

November 2010 YTD

Lexus - 201,769
BMW - 196,833
Mercedes - 196,288

Adding in the monthly numbers, noting that the MB Sprinter is not included (like Bloomberg, unlike CNBC).

November 2010 Month

Lexus - 18,240
BMW - 20,097
Mercedes - 18,208

MB has stated a few days ago they may end up #3 for the year, but it will be close. Lexus margin was just 32 units above MB this month though, even with hefty incentives (close to Euro levels). However Lexus' overall lead grew slightly, it is about 5,481 units above MB, and seems likely to retain the crown, given that there has never been more than a 3,600 unit difference between them, monthly, and that year-high gulf was in Lexus' favor.

They're advertising leases here for $399 a month and $399 down...pretty aggressive if you ask me.

Good points. Furthermore, they randomly decided to add the G25 at the end of the life cycle and even after the refresh. Typically, something planned as the "volume model" would come out with a new generation or at least at the refresh, that way it seems more new and there is more to advertise and market. Their product planning seems very odd to me.

I would expect that it will be more popular in the next gen when they can put more into advertising, marketing, engineering, pricing, etc.

The subtitle above should surprise no one. Of all the automakers operating in the U.S., Subaru, Hyundai and Kia are the only automakers to increase sales month after month through this years-long recession while their competitors have faltered. As such, all 3 are enjoying new full-year sales records a month ahead of the Times Square ball dropping.

The rest of the industry, however, is apparently done fumbling around and is clearly finding its footing. The vast majority of brands saw increased sales last month except for the usual suspects (GM's non-core brands that are just about dead, also-dying Mercury, along with Smart and Jaguar) and a few cellar-dwelling surprises like Chrysler, Dodge, Toyota and Lexus. We're not sure what Toyota's banking on to turn things around, aside from mass amnesia of its recall woes, while Chrysler is doing its best to either fully redesign or substantially upgrade its existing models to keep customers interested.

Either way, when the book closes on 2010, automotive historians will write that the competitive landscape on December 31 looked markedly different than it did 365 days earlier. With 1 more month to go, we doubt the list of winners and losers is going to look very different from what you see below.

oh sheeit!

5 series beat E class.

new lexus sedans can't come soon enough.......
Lexus needs to improve/dominate in the passenger car arena, and can't keep relying on the RX.

Infiniti M is doing pretty poorly, considering how new it is.
Japanese sedans in this class should be pushing 30000 units a year with their new models.

- November marks 8th record-breaking month of year and 4 consecutive months of record-setting achievements for the brand
- November 2010 new sales of 9,365 vehicles surpass previous November record set in 2006
- Best November on record for Audi A3 with 788 vehicles sold; strong sales debut for the redesigned 2011 Audi A8 flagship model
HERNDON, Va., Dec 1, 2010 - Audi sustained its 2010 momentum with record-setting November U.S. sales, which surpassed the prior November record set in 2006. Leading into the close of the year, November 2010 sales of Audi cars and SUVs not only marked the 8th record month of 2010, but also comes on the heels of the best-ever October U.S. sales for new and certified pre-owned vehicles in Audi U.S. sales history.

The November results keep the German luxury automaker on track to set a vehicle sales record in the U.S. by year-end. The existing annual sales record for Audi in the U.S. is 93,506 vehicles sold in 2007.

For November, Audi sold 9,365 vehicles, a 37.5% increase over the 6,810 vehicles sold in November 2009. Year-to-date in November 2010 Audi new sales rose more than 20% versus its prior year-to-date total of 73,686 vehicles sold.

Audi has enjoyed significant sales growth across all U.S. regions as November 2010 marks 4 consecutive record-setting months for sales. In particular, a new all-time Southern regional sales record has been achieved, with vehicle sales currently standing at 21,351 for the year.

Additionally, November marked the debut of sales for the highly anticipated and redesigned 2011 Audi A8 flagship model – the most technologically-advanced vehicle Audi has ever produced – with 310 vehicles already sold (on top of 23 2010 Audi A8 models for the month).

November 2010 Audi A3 U.S. sales not only jumped 102% over 2009 as consumers continue to demand the Audi A3 TDI clean diesel, which is the reigning 2010 Green Car of the Year, but also represent the best November for the Audi A3 in company history. Audi A3 TDI clean diesel models accounted for nearly 70% of vehicles sold in the A3 line. In addition, the Audi Q7 full-size luxury crossover sales rose by 500 units when compared to November 2009.

“It is no surprise that Audi continues to remain in the coveted pole position within the luxury vehicle market with an exceptionally strong brand identity and superior vehicle offerings,” said Audi of America Chief Operating Officer Mark Del Rosso.
