That's a lot of labor involved if true!
My RX doesn't have that wood steering wheel. The back of the wheel looks nothing like that pictured.Just a bunch of dimpled cutouts.

Ah, the last picture of the article is very deceptive and misleading then... although I guess we can't really blame them for trying to use the halo of their flagships to sell their volume models.

But then again, the handcrafted steering wheels pictured throughout the article have three prongs, so it's definitely not the LS's. So which model is it for?

I think there's so many dimples in back of the RX wheel to hold the cheap veneer on,if wood..

I've always wondered about the wood in my RX. Guess I'll appreciate it more now

I love my RX wood wheel Seriously the wood trim and steering wheel where a part of my buying decision for Lexus. Turned down other versions of the same car cause if was not there.

I like the look of the wood, but the feel of an all leather wheel.

With wood steering wheels, you have to make sure that the wheel-alignment guys are VERY careful with the braces they put on the steering wheel rim to keep it centered while the alignment-settings are being done. I've seen what those braces, if carelessly applied and taken-off, can do to regular padded and leather wheel-rims...one can only imagine how they could mar fine polished wood.

Wow. That's pretty impressive. I always wondered how those things were made and how they came together. Thanks for posting.

I also recall being told that the cost of a wood steering wheel (can't remember which model though) ran $3000. Must have been one of those solid wood ones at that price I hope.
