To bad they didn't add that! cause they need to fix theses dash board creaks and rattles. Everyone on that BMW Forum seems pretty sad to own a BMW 5 series.

I almost bought one. It's a shame, because when those cars a running right, they are the best in the world. It wasn't even these forum posts that worried me - it was the class action suit on their twinpower inline six.

Choose your poison, Lexus with bad build quality, or BMW with bad reliability! After those guys, I don't really take the others seriously from an engineering standpoint.

The title is a little misleading.

What are they the best at?

No surprise that a Lexus operated website has a page claiming they're the "best". All of the manufacturers will of course try to bolster their brand like this.

The reality is that there is no one "best" brand. They all have strengths and weaknesses. Thankfully, Lexus has more strengths than weaknesses but to say they're the "best" is debatable.

I really think most of those tests are only done on the LS 460.

Almost every brand has some sort of OCD going on at the factory. When you're cranking out millions of cars with such a tight tolerance, it's expected that you take extra precaution in everything you do.

I won't. I only like the handling characteristics of rear wheel drive cars.

I would like the Porsche Panamera S but it's so damn expensive!

While impressive, it's naturally also marketing on Lexus' part. Because other premium manufacturers conduct similar techniques in regards to ensuring their standards.

I saw a documentary a few years ago how engines are made at Ferrari. The part I remember was how they smelt a newly created engine block that had just been created in their engine factory because of a "small problem". The block was melted back into a liquid state (and the different properties were separated to be combined later again) and then reshaped into that same engine block sans the imperfections.

That part about Toshikatsu Kuroyanagi reminded me of an old Samurai sword craftsman for some reason!

I have and nice to look at, okay to drive with dulled AWD steering and specific to Audi front heaviness.

Not impressed with the reliability.

But like many here, I'm not buying the "worlds best" generalization, doesn't mean anything.

if i have to pick, i would pick bmw reliability over audi any day

and regarding the world's best, i am sure lexus has their standard, and they are doing a pretty good job, but there are also a lot of marketing in it as well

I recall back in the 90's, those who picked up new Lexus's loved them. But they too had rattles and various annoyances. In other words, as time goes on, no car has been perfect.
