Thats due to their high tax on imported cars (i think it was 120% or something)

You've gotta love Lexus to get it at that price.

Any price comparisons to similar models, such as the 5 and 7 Series? The E and S Class?

When Toyota opened down here, just the Camry and then immediatley the Corolla. In some countries like Brazil, I think they are left with just the ES and LS, though they used to have the RX. Bolivia I remember just has the LS.

Be fortunate that you have Lexus, as in Mexico, we have none.

Price of an IS250 = 140,000 SGD = 91,000 USD
GS300 = 180,000 SGD = 117,000 USD
LS460 SWB = 295,000 SGD = 192,000 USD
LS460L = 360,000 SGD = 233,800 USD

Yeah, buying a car sucks too in Singapore.

You know what's funny. Currently, it's considered a good time to buy cars in Singapore because prices are much lower than in the 90's!!!

Those Brazil prices are crazy. I wonder if there's an arbitrage opportunity there...

My barber buys nice cars, drives them a while then sells them in Africa for a profit. I can't think of another business I'd rather be in than buying nice cars, driving them, then selling them for more than I paid. I'm sure it's not that simple though

And here is Lexus Malaysia's 3S(Sales, Service & Spare Parts) centre. it even comes with a Business Suite!

Lexus Malaysia is expecting to sell 150 to 200 units in Malaysia.

I think you can probably only get a honda there for the price of a E class Mercedes you pay here . . .

A Honda Accord 3.0V6 (Imported from Thailand.) costs 9k more than a similar MB E350 in the US!

We have to pay higher prices for foreign brands (Much worse if it is a parallel-import.) because of one protected (Since they first started.) national car manufacturer, Proton (Somewhat similar to GM in the US. In Malaysia, only 2 out of 20 cars built wouldn't have QC problems, while the export markets get better built, equipped & cheaper priced variants!).

A Corolla Altis 1.8G Costs 111,400 Ringgit (31,692USD) in Malaysia btw! Ouch!

Just to give an idea of how much the Toyotas (Excluding the grey imports.) cost here-> http://star-motoring.com/cars/results.asp?make=32

Brazil and most of south and central America jack up the prices ridiculously high. Mexico is not as bad, http://mx.autos.yahoo.com/newcars/to...e_overview.php (use about 10 pesos to 1 USD and you get the idea).
