Thumbs up Modified Power Wheels-new hobby

I picked up a new hobby early this year and since modding cars go hand in hand with power wheels, it's addicting.

For those with toddlers, it's fun for them and good bonding time.
Plus, it exposes the kids to early stage of using tools

A lot of the guys in there are more hardcore where they upgrade the motors, just like here doing the motor swap, full stereo system...
I haven't ventured into that yet.
Mostly everyone add LEDs to the lightings.

Here's my build thread.
I turned a regular 911 into Sally from Disney Cars. It's about 90% done, need some retouching.
I also have a ninja quad and an Escalade. I only added LEDs to the front and rear taillights, no motor upgrade.

Lots of mods in there: barbie jeep, Sarge, ATVs, quads...

That's great! My little girl turns 3 next month and I was thinking about getting her a PowerWheels. My motorcycle is pretty much modded as much as it's going to get... might as well tinker with something else right?

I'm definitely going to check out that link you posted.

Cool. I picked up one of those Escalades for my son. Its all stock though. One question. Does anyone make rubber replacement wheels? Those hard plastic wheels are brutal.

yeah, when they get a little older, you can grab another 6v and add it to the 12v for more speed

any more and you might burn up the motor before having to upgrade

they don't have direct rubber replacement wheels.

you can slap on a different set, a little costly.

cheap fix: you can get old bicycle tire tubes, cut them to diameter size, and heavy duty staple them to the rear tires, middle tread.

you can get good traction this way

I didn't want to condone any "tramp-stamping" so I left it out

I think I might try the BMW tire route. Probably going to go with a separate break pedal too now that I know it is possible. Even before I got it for my son I was planning on adding an A/V system. I'll probably go with a small 5" LCD monitor and mount an iPod dock somewhere. That should take care of audio and video. A couple of 5 1/5" coax speakers and a small amp should be enough. Maybe even build a small sub box for that 6.5" JL Audio subwoofer I have laying around.

I mean BMX tire route. Goes to show where my mind is. LOL

That is really sick man and I am on board for doing this. My kids are 19mos (boy and a girl) and I have to get them modded powerwheels. Thanks for sharing. Post pics of the Escalade.

here's the Escalade

you can see the on-off switch that I added for the headlights and taillights.
top is the battery indicator, factory.

here, I added 6 leds each for the taillights

I added 9 leds on each side. 5 blew out that I need to replace and add more resistors.

Where do you buy the separate brake pedal? That is the first mod I want to do.
