Beautiful rendering.
However, I doubt they'll use (by then) an aging hybrid powertrain that's been out since 2007 (which only gets about 438 hp). By 2014, it's 7-year old technology. Even if it's "upgraded", it'll be obsolete.
I hypothesize that it will have a new engine and hybrid powertrain that will be introduced sometime in the next few years. V8? Yes. Hybrid? Possibly. But to be based on aging engineering? I don't think so.

Interesting announcements. I think we all agree we need more mouth-watering products from Lexus and the SC is a no-brainer starting point. What worries me is both it and the LC are cars out of reach for most buyers. What I'd like to see are some more mainstream models that are sexy, leading, but somewhat affordable. There's a lot of potential here. Mercedes and Audi have been doing this for some time with great success.

a new coupe offering aside from the sc. if it could potentially go into production, this would be a nice addition to the lineup lexus currently has. i'm not too worried on which vehicles it will compete with- just glad that there are more coupes in the works from lexus.

Lexus needs a 2-seater roadster like the Z4 and SLK. It can be based on the new CT platform for the lightweight sporty factor, but use a traditional non-hybrid engine.
But let the IS compete with the 3-Series and C-Class all the way.
I doubt that the SC has been "shown," but rather discussed.
The car needs to be developed with a lot of forward thinking. It needs to be competitive in 2014 (lots of power), but it also needs to play the game with 2016 CAFE Standards (must be very gas efficient).
