Report: Porsche's baby Cayenne could be called "Cajun"

The Porsche range spans thus: 911, Panamera, Cayenne, Cayman, Boxster. How would you feel about a Porsche Cajun being added to that? We haven't heard much lately about the long-rumored little SUV supposedly being planned in the Stuttgart product department, and the last time we did it was tentatively dubbed "Roxster."

However, in an interview with Germany's Der Spiegel, after Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn expounded on his views of the company and his tenure with it, he hinted that the sixth model in the Porsche line could be called the Cajun. Admittedly, we're a long way off from this vehicle becoming a reality, so we're probably quite a ways from knowing its name... but something called the Porsche Gumbo Cajun, even at this stage, is a bit unexpected. If that's the case, we'll hold out until we can get the inevitable Creole Turbo special edition.

I'm not sure that "Cajun" is a fitting name for a Porsche. Many, if not most, of the real Cajuns in the South Louisiana Bayou country, drive pickups. And "Cayman", another Porsche, is named for a close relative of the alligator/crocodile that lives in South America.

ok, I'm going to be blunt and say that's retarded

however, if they're coming out with a "jambalaya", then cajun is less retarded

You know its kind of funny that all these luxury brands (mostly the Tier 2/3 ones) dropped their names for random numbers and letters hardly anyone can remember b/c "thats what luxury brands do" yet here is Porsche naming vehicle after vehicle and it works well and Porsche's image continues to be highly regarded.

Yeah, but their naming scheme is also very confusing. First of all, all of their cars look the same, and how on earth do you tell the difference between 911, older 911, carrera, or any other models that they have? Then they have a million variants of each model to add to the confusion.

But yeah, with their newer models - the Cayenne, Boxter, Pornomera, the naming scheme seems to work and its very easy to comprehend.

I hope this isn't true. Sounds like a bad idea.

I guess us Porsche nuts can tell by the internal codes like 997.2 911 for instance means the updated current model

Exactly 993/996/997 for the 911's, 986/987 for Boxsters. Porsche nuts know exactly what the differences are and they are significant.
