Default Place your bets: Bugatti Veyron vs. BMW S1000RR!!!

So, who's gonna win?

In the October issue of Bike magazine, we exclusively bring together two icons of speed: BMW's 180bhp S1000RR, and Bugatti's gazillion horsepower Veyron. No race track, no TV script -- what really happens when the world's fastest bike meets the world's fastest car on the road?

Is this a drag race? 1/4 mile? I'd vote for the rider... but if the driver knows his stuff... it'll be all over! It's a drivers/riders race!

I vote for Veyron, just a non-researched wild *** guess. (Maybe I should have looked at power to weight ratios)

Veyron, no question. It all comes down to tire grip (4 huge, 4 driven vs. 2 tiny, 1 driven), aerodynamics, and ability to keep the nose down under hard acceleration.

This is assuming, of course, pilots of equal skill.

I think the awd launch of the veyron and the 1000 hp will allow it to get off the line as quickly as the bike. Then the 1000 hp will do its thing

it doesn't say the length of the race. if it's a 1/4 or even a 1/2 mile race, i'd have to give it to the bike.

i remember watching the top gear episode when the mclaren thrashed the veyron off the line until about the 1/2 mile mark, which is when the veyron eventually reeled it in and passed the mclaren.

And that is why the one vote for the bike belongs to me. It's a drivers race, but I'm betting the bike hooks up before the Bugatti.

motorcyles are reaching a control-ability limit of what a rider can handle. Thats why they dont advance a whole lot. It's easy to jump the power a lot, the question is is anyone able to control it realistically. A bike is not able to go ***** out off the line or else the driver will wipe out.

Veyron will win.

Is this statement based off anything factual?

I need to know the distance.

Problem here is how is the motorcyclist going to be mounted on the bike. I used to have guys race bikes at my track in Mexico and they would struggle at the start because they had to get their feet off the ground and on to the bike (no training wheels).

This is pointless without knowing the distance. If it is <1/2 mile, I give it to the bike. >1/2 mile, I give it to the Bugatti.

It is a driver's race if the race is <1/2 mile. I voted bike.
